I bet it's hard to sleep with the cpap beepin and everything. Got a spare bedroom?

Good night, and hope you have a good Thursday!

    Good morning!

I hope everyone has a good day, and at some point during the day, has a good belly-laugh that puts everything into perspective.

Ds is home from judo/jiujitsu, I walked the track and gabbed on the phone w/an old friend, then tried to call another friend in Alaska but she wasn't home.

I'm off to bed, gearing up for whatever the day brings.

Morning Muffie, Diary, Dianah and Bethin. Just got home from work a short time ago. Busy, busy. Have to unwind a little bit before I hit the sack. I'll browse around the threads.

Hope you can get some sleep Muffie!

    GOOD MORNING, PEEPS!!

    Hi to All!!
I am at work & even tho it's not even midnight, I need to vent & I need to vent BIG!!!!

I got here & of course, instead of 4 RN's there are only 3. I note we have 17 pt's--1 empty. I look at the assignment & note that I have 6 pt's; the Charge for tonite has 6 pt's and the Traveler has 5; The PM Charge gets a call & there is an admit coming--she tells the Travel Niurse who then says she doesn't want the admit--give it to Mary Ann.
So, the PM Charge takes one of my pt's away to the Travel RN & assigns the admit to me. Now, I just don't think this is fair!!

I don't have time for more complaints---will be getting my admit shortly!! I'll be back later.
I just don't think this is right

    It doesn't sound fair.

Is it just me, or is your unit routinely understaffed? I wouldn't know why - they have Mary Ann to bring a smile to their faces and give them a big laugh!

I'm trying to go to sleep. Took an ambien and that didn't do squat so I took a xanax which did nothing. I sign my lease tomorrow morning, pound the pavement with my resumes, tan, then sleep so I can stay awake - I work 11p-7a tomorrow night. Need the money.

Have a good night Mary Ann!

Mary Ann, that sounds busy - I feel like you sometimes because it seems we are always having hard nights here together!! I hope things get better. Things are busy here too - I need to give blood and of course it is not ready yet. On the plus side, we are now full and I still have 5 patients(last night I got my 6th at 0530 and it really put a kink in my timeline for getting done on time, I did not get out of here until 7:50.....) Oh well, just 7 more weeks here and then home for Christmas!! Looking forward to it!

Hi - typing fast . . something is wrong with my modem and I have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in. :angryfire

Anyway . . .Happy Thursday! I accomplished quite a bit today - rare for me. Cleaned, worked out, mowed the lawn, did laundry, went for a walk, out to dinner with my 6 year old, rented a "Rug Doctor" to clean his carpet (that darn cat).

One more day off then two days of work . . . . oh, a local young man killed his 5 month old . .. very bad skull fractures. He said the baby pushed against his chest with his feet and fell on the bed . . .yeah, right. Mom was at school. (they are 19). Poor baby. Dad is in jail.

    Well, that wasn't a nice way to end this . . . . . hmmmmm . . . . let's us hope the modem works.

    Scattered showers tomorrow . . it was nice today . . . .

Here we go . . . . will this post??????

    Happy Thursday!

Well, I was asleep. Now ds' temper has me seeing :angryfire. God forbid any food is taken away from him. He stopped nursing and fell asleep. I went to pull away and he had a huge tantrum. Yet he's subsequently spitting up because he overate. I don't know if he's teething or what. He's been drooling since June and chews on everything, so who knows. I don't think kiddo's teethe for almost four months with nothing to show for it. I Tylenoled him anyway. That's why I'm awake and on AN one floor away from the bedroom instead of sleeping. I just had to leave the room for a little while.

Steph-Needless to say, now that I have my own child with a temper, I can see how things like that are done. Not that I would ever do that or that it makes things like that okay, but, oh . . . . . .mine's been living on his looks lately. I'll bet the baby fell over and over and over again too. :trout: Dad would have been better off just 'fessing up.

Diary-Are you not liking Seattle? There's something to be said about getting the late admit. When that happens a lot of times I get the person settled, address what stat orders that I can and some of the paper work out of the way and that's it. I tell the charge nurse to count it as the person's admit on the next shift though.

bethin-sending some cyber-sleepytime tea your way. I'm about to drink mine.

MaryAnn-This would be me . . . . . .:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire. And I would be telling said traveller and the person rearranging the assignment to screw . . . .erm . . . .uh . . . . . .pound salt. Unless the person had a real reason, like the pt was a child molester that would cause flashbacks or something. Even then, the other nurse should have asked nicely at the very least. I would have refused and then dragged the house supervisor in if I had to. Tell the NM in the morning and I hope they don't renew that traveller's contract. What a bunch of baloney!

suzy-Hope you were able to fall asleep. If not, you're welcome to have sleepytime tea with bethin and me.

di-I thing we could all use your bellylaugh idea, right about now. Hope ds passes his driver's test.

muffie- I think I would be camped out on the couch. Maybe you could use the cpap as white noise.

I have calmed down now but am still PO'ed.

This is a Travel Nurse who just started maybe a week ago; our other Travel Nurse is the Lovely Young Woman I was talking about yesterday!! What a wonderful girl she is---what a differance in the two of them!!
    Oh well.
I suppose I'll have to mention it in the AM. GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr

The admission was OK. Very troubling--he's under 30 with Terminal Lung CA that has metastasized to the brain & spine all ready!!
They told him there is nothing more they can do for him.
He has all ready had palliative Radiation.
So what do you think---he comes up with an IV as he's dehydrated & the bag is DRY!!! Dry as a bone & not only that but the IV site is occluded!! So the poor kid has to get stuck again!!

This is very depressing. By the way, he speaks NO English, so I had to do one of the Phone translators for the admit info. Gets better & better!!

Well, got to run--plenty of work to do yet. See you later, maybe.

    I will be off Thur & Fri---so that's GOOD!!

Yes, we are routinely poorly staffed!!

    To all--Have a good day!!

    Good Morning folks.

Some of you young folks been saying to me, "Hey Pops, what you mean 'What a wonderful world'? How about all them wars all over the place? You call them wonderful? And how about hunger and pollution? That ain't so wonderful either.

Well how about listening to old Pops for a minute. Seems to me, it aint the world that's so bad but what we're doin' to it...
