happy new year grace ...and to everyone who has already "crossed over" into the new year of 2007! still got an hour and ten minutes in my neck of the woods! if i can stay away until midnight, i'll take a swallow of "fake champagne" made of grape juice. i don't drink...friend doesn't drink...know her son isn't going to drink, so...there ya go.

    hi renee!
i was thinking of you as i sat watching the fireworks on the sydney harbour bridge on tv last night! i recalled how you sat alone on christmas day and there was me, sitting alone (plus the two dogs! ) last night on nye. dh had crashed! he was so very tired! lol so, it was me 'n' the 'boys'! actually, it was rather peaceful and restful after the full year we've had. plus.... i got to eat the 'nibbles' all to myself!
anyway.............. i was sitting there reflecting on the past year and the people in my life, both physically and online at allnurses. i held you in thought and prayer and asked for a better year for you. i hope you find that elusive job you're seeking and that life will indeed take a turn for the better for you!
i wish you all the very best for 2007!:icon_hug:
    enjoy your "champagne!"

I'm getting a little teary - my #1 son is working as a valet at a private party in So. Cal . . . just had a chance to say a quick "Happy New Year" to him. My #2 son is at a friend's house up here having a bbq and party and staying the night there (glad of that - no driving). My daughter is in Medford with a friend and parents at a party at The Red Lion. My kids are growing up . . . Except of course the 5 year old who is playing with Daddy.

Grace, Beth, Renee . .. . and all to follow, I hope this year brings us ALL peace and love and all the syrupy things people say this time of year.

    Be safe.

New Years by yourself sucks. I've done the same thing now for five years: I buy a big bag of candy, Jose Cuervo and drink and eat while I watch the ball drop. Then I cry as they sing "auld lang syne" or some such name.

Here's the official New Year's Eve song so you can sing at home:

    Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
    And never brought to mind?
    Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago !

For old long ago, my dear
    For old long ago,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
    For old long ago.

We two have run about the hillsides
    And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
    For old long ago.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
    From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
    Since old long ago.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill draught (of ale)
    For old long ago!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
    For old long ago!
