Happy May Day!

  1. Hi everyone!
Been up since 5 am. Took my 3 girls and 3 friends here for a sleepover to a nearby hill to watch the sun rise to the sound of bagpipes and dance round the maypole.

It's the start of our town's 2 week festival of literature and there were about 100 people there. Didn't see the sun rise - it was raining! But enjoyed the dancers, jugglers, cups of hot chocolate and bacon sandwiches!

    Happy Day!

It is actually a holiday here.....................
but then since it falls on Saturday this year, the banks and many government offices get another day off on Monday................ :uhoh21:
Wednesday is Coronation Day, so a legal holiday for the whole country..........
I have never seen so many holidays in one country, ever!!!

Does anyone remember making May Day bouquets, placing them in construction paper cones with a handle? Then we put them on someone's front door (a neighbor or relative), rang the bell, then ran off.

May Day is special for me.....it is my baby's birthday. He's 12 this year! Not a baby any more!!!! But always my baby in my eyes!

And yes, I used to make May Day bouquets and leave them on people's doorsteps......

May Day is special for me, too. My babies (twin boys) were born on Mayday-now they're 17.
