Happy Friday Morning 7/16/04!!

  1. I get to start it today!!! Rare indeed . . . I'm sure Suzanne is around, but she's probably working. I honestly haven't had a chance to review yesterday's posts, as we just got in from a jam session, which followed a jiujitsu workout (our first). So I'm beat, but had to post in order to present the following (thanks to my sister Cathi):

    > I ain't much for shopping,
    > Nor even goin' into town -
    > Except at cattle-shipping time,
    > I ain't easily found.
    > But the day came when I had to go
    > And I left the kids with Ma.
    > But before I left she asked me,
    > "Would you pick me up a bra?"
    > Without thinkin' I said "Sure,"
    > How tough could that job be?
    > I bent down and kissed her
    > And said, "I'll be back by three"
    > Well, when I done the things I needed,
    > I started to regret
    > Ever offering to buy that thing,
    > I was working up a sweat.
    > I crossed the street to the ladies' shop With my hat pulled over my
    > eyes,
    > I wasn't takin' any chances
    > On bein' recognized.
    > I walked up to the sales clerk -
    > I didn't hem or haw -
    > I told the lady right straight out,
    > "Ma'am, I'm here to buy a bra."
    > From behind I heard some snickers ,
    > So I turned around to see
    > At least fifteen women in the store
    > And they's all gawkin' at me!
    > "What kind would you be looking for?"
    > "Well," I just scratched my head.
    > I'd only seen one kind before
    > "Thought bras was bras," I said.
    > She gives me a disgusted look,
    > "Well sir, that's where you're wrong.
    > Come with me," I heard her say,
    > And like a dog, I tagged along.
    > She took me down this alley
    > Where bras was on display.
    > Well, I thought my jaw'd hit the floor
    > When I seen that lingerie.
    > They had all these different styles
    > That I'd not seen before
    > I thought that I'd go crazy
    > 'fore I left that women's store.
    > They had bras you wear for eighteen hours And bras that cross your
    > heart.
    > There was bras that lift and separate,
    > And that was just the start.
    > They had bras that made you feel
    > Like you weren't wearing one at all,
    > And bras that you can train in
    > When you start off when you're small .
    > Well, I finally make my mind up -
    > Picked a black and lacy one -
    > I told the lady,
    > "Bag it up," And figured I was done
    > But then she asked me for the size.
    > I didn't hesitate.
    > I knew them measurements by heart,
    > " A six-and-seven-eighths."
    > "Six and seven eighths, well sir,
    > That really isn't right."
    > "Oh, yes ma'am! Yeah, I'm positive,
    > I just measured them last night."
    > I thought that she'd go into shock,
    > Musta took her by surprise
    > When I told her that my wife's bust
    > Was the same as my hat size.
    > "That's what I used to measure with,
    > I figured it was fair,
    > But if I'm wrong, I'm sorry ma'am."
    > This drew another stare.
    > By now a crowd had gathered
    > And they's all crackin' up
    > When the lady asked to see my hat,
    > To measure for the cup.
    > When she finally had it figured,
    > I gave the gal her pay.
    > Then I turned to leave the store,
    > Tipped my hat and said, "Good day."
    > My wife heard the whole story
    > 'fore I ever made it home.
    > She'd talked to fifteen women
    > Who'd called her on the phone.
    > She was still a-laughin'
    > But by then I didn't care.
    > Now she don't ask and I don't shop
    > For no more women's underwear.

It gave me a chuckle, hope you enjoyed it! I'll post more later (weekends are MUCH easier for me to post, as I have more time then). Of course, greetings to all. -- Diana

goooooooood morning everyone! eeeeeeeeewwwwww...now that's an ugly color isn't it? reminds me of mucus when you have an infection. ah well....nothing's working right for me here so i'm not even gonna bother trying to change it.

how is everyone this fine morning! good to see you starting the thread diana. i had seen that joke before. it's really cute and gave me a good giggle this morning. thanks!

suzanne.....it's so weird to not see you here regularly. busy girl you are!

donny.....what's going on there? your class sounds like it would drive me crazy, but then i think i would trade my nutrition class for yours anyday after last night.

today is going to be study day! yesterday was cleaning day and today is study day. i don't know how it will go with kiddos all over the place, but i am going to try. it's hard to explain this instructor and how she is teaching, but i'll give you something that our best student in the class said on break. he said that when you ask her a question, she already has it in her mind what you are going to ask and she answers that rather than the question you actually wanted to ask. she runs with it and no matter how much you try to get her back, she is long gone! lol! she's a very nice lady and i think a good teacher because she wants to hear all of our feedback but i didn't much see the point in arguing every question that she had worded funnny with her. she had already thrown out three questions which raised all of our grades and i know she wasn't about to do any more. i'll see how this test goes. if it's just as bad.....well, then i'm gonna have to sit down with her and have a talk.

question for you guys....when applying to graduate school for nursing, how imperative are your grades from the adn program? is there an entrance exam? if you have been working, do they take into account your work record? what is important?

alright, going to catch up a bit and i'll be back!

Kim: How are you feeling? Did you try my suggestions? Same thing that a GI Doc would also suggest, at least the ones that I used to work with in endo in MI.

    Good morning Donny...........

    must be studying.............

Good morning to all of you early birds..........

    Good morning!!!

I need to vent a little. Someone talked to the manager and her assistant and told them that I am not supportive of them, that I talk behind their back, and that I encouraged a coworker to quit.

I feel like I've been stabbed in the back. The person who was quitting I took aside and begged her to reconsider and talk to the manager about her problems. Which she did and she isn't quitting.

I ***** and moan about management I confess, I talk about the VP's and upper managements concern for budget blah blah blah. So sue me. But if I ever had a real problem with my manager or her assistant I would tell them personally. Now the relationship is soured. They say the didn't believe it but there's now an edge to our relationship that needs to be worked out.

This was so unnecessary and I'm so bummed. It's times like this I hate being the charge nurse.

Rats maybe time to move on yet again. I left my last unit because of my coworkers. I've got to take a good hard look at myself and decide what's wrong with me that I can change. Keep my fat mouth shut for one thing.

Thanks for listening. This is probably the same person that stabbed the manager in the back accusing her of racism (she's African American).

Sorry I'm in one of my I hate my job and hate my coworker moods.

Suzanne....I didn't try them, exactly but I am paying attention to how I feel and exactly what I am eating. I haven't noticed a bunch of difference in anything yet. I had regular pasta last night and the pain hasn't been any different since then. I had carrots when I came home last night, same thing. See what I'm saying? I'm keeping my eyes open. I still think something should have showed in my bloodwork or fecal tests if it was what I am eating that is bothering me. I am calling my dr. today to try to make an appointment for next week and figure out what in the world is going on here. If I go to my GP, she should be able to call my OB/GYN and get the results of the hysteroscopy (which is the last thing we are waiting for) so that we can make plans for the next step. I'm really pressed for time here. If I am going to have a colonoscopy, I want to do it before fall.

((((((((((((((Tweeters)))))))))))))))))) I can't tell you to keep your mouth shut, because I don't think I would and I don't think you should have to, BUT to keep the peace, maybe it's a good idea. It's very hard to go in to some place that you work and not say much of anything about anything because you are afraid of being persecuted! Sorry, hun.

Tweeters...on second thought, I'll just come kick all their hineys for you!!! Don't they see how WONDERFUL you are? JERKS!

CNM2B - I work in a assisted living on a floor with "mild dementia and alzheimer's."

3rd.shiftguy - I know how bummed out you feel. Don't you think it kind of goes along with the job? Especially being in a charge position. You probably go out of your way to be helpful to all. Even do things yourself before you ask others for help.

You know my father use to tell me -
"You can please some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time."
    Oh how true it is.

ahhhh Tweeters. I'm so sorry for all your troubles. Geez....I hope it all works out for you. But vent away all you need too--that's what we're here for. Lord knows......I vent an awfully lot here that it's getting real old, real fast!

Hiya everyone else. Was up early this a.m....reread the chapter summaries, took a shower, now having another cup of coffee and planning to reread everything yet again. :spin: I like this little smiley person....my head is spinning too only I'm not smiling. :stone

So Kimmy since yesterday was cleaning day for you, could you come to my house and clean here? After all, all you're going to do today is study Then we can go down to Newport and see the tall ships. The Early Show is broadcasting bits from there and I see this blue-blue sky in the background. Hey, I'm only about 20 miles from Newport--it's sunny here but not those blue skies. Really love Newport but I bet it is crowded as all get-out.

So my exam is at 1:00 today so I'm hoping you can all say a collective prayer for me. Whew. Then you can all do a collective sign of relief when you don't have to hear me anymore...unless of course I flunk :chuckle

OK.....going to answer a few more posts, dry my hair and all that other stuff. See ya later!
