GW Takes a Vacation, while the our troops can't!

Wow isn't nice to be able to go and run away from the heat, but not let your troops you supposedly "lead" do the same!

What a WUSS! I think our troops who have been over in Iraq facing danger, are taking a whole lot more heat than he is!!! Why don't they get to go home???

I dunno Brownie . . anytime a politician can get out of that Washington Culture Club and into the real world, I say that's a good thing.

Haven't other Presidents during post war time been able to take vacations? I'll bet it will be a working vacation from what I've read about Pres Bush.

    Dearest Brownie :kiss

I liken a president's need for a vacation during difficult times and a lot of action going on to us nurses who do the same. Nurses take vacations KNOWING the floor is SHORT staffed. :chuckle :roll :chuckle

Everyone NEEDS some down time. There truly is no perfect time to take a vacation or get some down time when you're in a business like us nurses and presidents. Now...if our vacations could just be as NICE as the presidents that get elected...hey...that would be a bennie worth it to me as a nurse. :hatparty:

Yes you guys are right, but you know I have a problem with a leader who says do as I say and not as I do. I have problem with this president doing it when the guys over there I totally believe are much more in need then he is for a vacation. I feel he should bring them home FIRST! If they don't deserve one, he sure doesn't!

You know I probably wouldn't have as much of a problem with this, if ONE he hadn't shirked his duty during Viet Nam. TWO that these guys, and their families hadn't went thru a yo yo deal, with bring told they were coming home several times, and then only to find out there was NO determined time that they would be leaving!

I can't imagine being constantly on alert, wondering when the next one is going to get me, without knowing WHEN I was going to see the light at the end of the tunnel!!! I could endure just about anything, as long as know there is an end in sight! But what they're going thru totally SUCKS!!

And Cheerful...:kiss knowing the floor is short-staffed dosen't even come close!

Read a soldiers diary of how he feels about the constant change of orders, and the feeling of being forgot or LEFT! He puts in some much stronger terms also!

Brownie, do you have a loved one over there? I was just wondering. We just found out our really good friend leaves in a week to go over there. I guess I just dont understand if the war is supposedly over, why arent our soldiers home and why are more going? I dont watch the news too much, so I guess I just dont get it?

Bush I was known to relax at Camp David MANY times while my husband was over in Saudi for 6 mo in support of Desert Storm. This is not new. But I guess, being an uber-leader has its priveleges. And grave responsiblities. I mean do they EVER "get away", surrounded by SS agents and the like? Anyhow, No one I knew in military service took "working vacations" like these. Oh well. Like I said it is not new.

If he needs some down time, he should go to a spa. Don't make it so obvious that you are on vacation when there are people dying overseas because of YOU. He has the nerve to announce that the war is over but now more troops are dying almost every single day. I am stationed at Ft. Campbell.. I get to see spouses upset because the troops were told that they would be coming home soon. Why lie to them? To keep morale up?

If this dude get re-elected I will lose alot of faith in this country.

I dont mean to offend anyone. I just hate war.

The annual recess for the President, House and Senate occurs every year in August regardless of who is President, which party controls the legislature, and whether we are at peace or war. It happens every year.

Yeah. There's nothing wrong with the president going on vacation. I only wish it were a PERMANENT vacation.

Thanks Linda . . . I was just looking for "Presidential Vacations" links.

Where the heck is Kevin when we need him?

Oh yea, we were lied to time and again about when my dh would return from the first gulf war. Yep, they kept pushing the date back for 2 months plus. I can relate; it is horrible and demoralizing. I agree, making a huge issue out of vacation while troops are at war is wrong. He is after all, commander-in-chief. and we ARE at war, even if Bushie says otherwise. Just ask all the guys/gals I know who are DEPLOYED RIGHT NOW.
