Grapefruit Diet Plan

  1. Hello Everyone,
I want to know has anyone heardof the famous grapefruit diet plan? I tried it for the 12 days that's required and lost my 8lbs. My mom wanted the plan and then she got on board with my father and they lost 25 together. The only complaint was that you're not eating any fruit or bread and certain veggies so you really don't get to go to the bathroom like you should and I don't mean urinating. I wanted to know if anyone else out there is on this diet and what are your thoughts, is this healthy or not? Any comments would be great!!!

Once, I considered this diet because I looove grapefruits. But according to www.diet-i.com, thid diet has too few calories, and it is unhealthy and monotonous. And they said it was 21 days. I guess you are doing this temporarily...do you have some sort of event to go to?

I think if I did this I would throw in a few veggies and maybe a chicken breast every other day to round it out. Did you do any excersizing?

Just by simply throwing anything to bake, fry, etc. on the George Foreman grill instead and switching to water to drink, i lost 20 pounds without altering what i ate. But before that I was doing portion control and only salting when something was REALLY bland.

Always heard that the grapefruit diet wasn't that safe, but i don't know anyone that's tried it and had success with it.

Is this like the infamous "Lemon diet" - you know the one.

When you first get up in the morning you eat 6 lemons for breakfast.

By the time your mouth unpuckers lunch and dinner are over

I did the grapefruit diet and lost the weight. I didn't have a problem "going to the bathroom". As a matter of fact, I went a little more than normal. I think it was the rubbish because I did the salad for lunch and dinner. I was actually thinking about starting it back up. I want to have my weight down before uniform time!

    :chuckle :roll :chuckle Histerical indeed!

Anyone heard about the mezzoshots? The spelling might be wrong, but on t.v. last night, Roberta Flack took those shots and lost 35 lbs.! She looks really good now! I'll try to find some information on cbs.com about it since I wouldn't mind getting a few of those shots to drop 25 lbs.

I'm sorry, but no diet that makes you give up entire food groups to lose weight is healthy--let alone sustainable! That grapefruit diet has been around since the 1960s, at least......sure, you lose a few pounds, but gain everything back the instant you start eating normally again. I don't think it's harmful in the short run, but to stay on such a restrictive program any longer than a week is risky, as is yo-yo dieting (which is inevitable when people repeatedly deprive themselves). It's much healthier to lose weight by eating a wide variety of wholesome foods in moderate amounts, than by crash-dieting and messing up your metabolism. And don't forget to exercise---even if all you do is take a half-hour walk or pull weeds in the garden, it burns calories!

    sigh...........

we are always looking for the quick cure in the US huh?

there is NO way to healthy old age BUT to take care of ourselves NOW. THAT INCLUDES not following fad diets that deprive us of what we need to live. Garbage in, garbage out.

It's basically an Adkins diet with grapefruit juice. So people can and do loose weight, as they do with Adkins.

But it's a myth it's endorsed by the Mayo Clinic, and it's a myth that grapefuit juice has anything to do with weight loss or fat burning. Switch to tomato juice and you'd still have the same results.

P.S. We're nurses, you can say the word "constipated" around here. LOL

I lost 11 lbs in as many days and kept it off for nearly a year....but then I'm one of the ones who GAINS weight on a so-called "healthy" eating plan...high in complex carbs, low in fats and sugars - and my digestive system can't handle carbs in any form anyway. I'll gain 5 lbs in a week eating vegetables and lean meats and exercising like you're supposed to. That's just me.

I wish I could remember the details exactly , because I've been looking for that exact one again, myself - and you DO eat vegetables on the one I was on. I remember that every morning for breakfast it was 2 eggs and grapefruit (or the juice if you're like me and can't stand the stuff) - for lunch it was tomatoes and green beans and, of course, the grapefruit - but lunch varied as the days went on, too....supper you had salad, toast, chicken, steak, eggs, grapefruit - it was a 14 day plan.
