Gotta quick comeback?

  1. End of shift, 6am: pts are waking up, meds being passed, reports being given, vitals being taken by oncoming shift.

Call light goes on: big pt wants to be hauled up in bed, and frankly, I'm not up to it by myself. So I asked for help and 2 people jump up--one's a guy and the other's my shift lead

The pt winds up moving herself up in the bed with all of us ready to lend a hand, positively gushing about what an EXCELLENT nurse I am the entire time (I was in and out of there all night....), gets herself to the top of the bed completely by herself, and finally, as my lead is leaving the room, points to her and says, "And who was that?"

I said, "Ya did good, Ms. ___ -- that was my boss you just said all that to! THANKS!!" :chuckle

Yay!! The pendulum DOES swing both ways!! Great validation!
Good for you, and good for her for speaking up! If my pts have compliments I always thank them for saying so, and suggest they write a letter/see the supr, etc.
