MOrning! something really weird is going on with my user cp. I can't access old threads that I posted to...they don't show up there and it seems as though I am stuck in a time warp. Weird...only certain things show up for me and I have to search for some of the new threads. Anyone else having problems?

    Good morning Kim & Deb!

Kim, have you posted in feedback for assistance from the mods/administrators? Might be a good idea.

This morning seems to be flying by...wouldn't it be fun to be outside & flying a kite or even hang-gliding? Oooh, this bring me to a question for today. What have you always wanted to do but haven't yet gotten around to doing? For me, the answer is hang-gliding...turns out that I live in a prime area for it & I haven't yet done this. Time to research this out, eh?

I'm gonna have to contact the mods. Weird....sometimes it's okay and other times it's not.

    Morning Deb!

LPN4 LIFE...I was just reading yesterdays thread (when I finally found the dang thing)...I'm so glad that you are enjoying your new job!

laughingfairy...the whole issue of your step-son, etc. is very disturbing and please know that I am still praying for you!

Oh and the question...what have I always wanted to do? hmmmmmmm........own a house and live somewhere warm! (this IS going to happen!) I'm not much of a thrill seeker except with roller coasters which I have been re-thinking since having kids. I need to be more careful about things now.

Ok new QOD for those who want to bite.

The thread the other day about parents, relationships, pain, etc got me thinking about our spiritual journey and the concept of "self-actualization". What do you picture yourself doing as a "self-actualized" person, if you believe there is such a person? In other words with all that you may consider a BARRIER aside, be it monetary, familial, where you live, what you do for a living, physical/emotional imbalances or illnesses, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU? What do you picture yourself doing or being as that person?

I will start: (I hope you don't find this cliche)

My goal is to travel to another country, a poor one, where people have little or no access to medical care and minister in whatever way I can be useful to them. Kind of like Doctors Without Borders. I would like to go to remote areas in Africa or the Philippine Islands or somewhere such--- where while physically I would likely be uncomfortable, I would be doing the most good, and even more thrilled to have what I have and live where I do when I finally return.

Does that sound too pie in the sky for you? Sorry, it's just a dream I have. Maybe make a reality when the kids are grown and no longer dependent. I need to make a DIFFERENCE On this planet before I go, you know???

Anyone else? Nothing is too "out there" for me, so shoot! I want to learn more about YOUR dreams!

okay, for Deb's question...I have always thought of things such as you described, Deb. When I was a teen, I wanted to join the Peace Corps and lately have been thinking of volunteering at the Red Cross once I get my RN license.

In a more selfish state...I would love to travel to Israel and just explore the country and especially all the religious areas. I would take it from there and just go where my heart leads, traveling and exploring all areas of the globe (not on a plane though! LOL!). I think this would be an amazing thing to do...and something I would want to do all by my lonesome. It would be a spiritual type journey for me and just think of all the people I would meet! *sigh* it may happen, after the kids are out of the house and dh is "gone". (man, that sounds morbid, but he IS 17 years older than me so the likelihood is good I'll be the last one standing! LOL!)

woops i missed that somoeone already posted a QOD,but you know what, we are on the same sort of vein. I am sorry, eltrip, I must have been posting my long winded post when you posted your question already. I did NOT mean to step on your toes.

Well everyone has an opportunity to post their dreams today. It does not have to get deep, if you are not in the mood or sick of it. Eltrips' question is a good one. What have I always wanted to do? Well besides what I posted above, to be less serious, I have always wanted to hang-glide like posted above, or parasail. Still do, something about being airborne is thrilling to my mind.

Have a good day everyone. And hug those who matter to you most today. Including YOURSELVES.

CNM you areNOT selfish. That trip sounds wonderful to me! My wanting to travel abroad and minister to others is in a way selfish. It would make me feel good about my being on the planet and give me tremendous source of satisfaction at what I do. THAT is a SELFISH motivation in itself. I just pictured how I would be self-actualized, which really in itself IS selfish?

NO ONE be afraid to post whatever comes to mind, no judging who is more altruistic, ok? I just want to know more about you and your dreams. Whatever they are......don't compare yourself to anyone else, you are UNIQUE.

Oh, and something else I thought of...I would love to own a resort type place where I could help children who were victims of incest (and even adult "survivors"). It's like a mission to me to be able to do something in this area. I would love to have a hotel type place with counselors, activities, pools, etc. in a warm area of the country for people to go to heal and to just "be". I would hire only survivors for it and it would be a non-profit organization. I would live right on site and run everything from there.

Thanks Deb...but I think it's okay to be selfish once in a while don't you? We all have to think of ourselves sometimes...if we are always thinking of others then what happens to us?

I think my second post is more of what I would really want to do in all actuality. Not only would I be fulfilling my dream of living in a warm place, but I would be helping others that suffered as I did. I'd hire ya too, if you want! LOL! In fact, I'd hire just about everyone from this thread!
