Good Tuesday Morning 02/01/05

  1. Just like the old days, and it wasn't too long ago. And now living back in the US. Who would have ever guessed.

Just thought that I would be the first to start, still only after 9 pm here on the west coast, but already 12 noon in Bangkok.

Make it a great one........... :Melody:

Nice to hear from you. Sorry to hear of everything that you have been going thru lately. Haven't been around as much, work takes up quite a bit of my time now.

Love my new assignment, hospital, area, and the apt.

Leslie, hope you have a delicious sleep (you deserve it, you need it and that's that).

Steph, I'm in awe of how you can function on so little sleep (for that matter, the same goes for Tweety and Leslie . .. . and Angie!). Hope you get some rest too. 'Course, I'm just remembering how many days I've worked on 2-4 hr of sleep, after pulling call every other week or every third week for 25 years . . . ah, how soon we forget! Be safe!

Quiet day today, took care of some odds and ends at work, as no cases materialized. Tonight we had a chaperone meeting for those parents who will travel with the 8th graders to Washington D.C. in May. 94 ppl, 56 of whom are 8th graders. Eight days. 6-8 attractions/landmarks per day. Redeye flight to get there, then jump right in with the first of the eight full days of sights. The teacher/sponsors must have repeated "Be prepared to walk and walk and walk and walk" and "Be flexible, the schedule changes often" about a hundred times! Still, I've never been there so it "should" be quite an adventure!

I better get ready for bed, not much else to share that's news- or noteworthy. (yeah, like my getting ready for bed is! Lol!)

Hope something unexpectedly special happens or is realized by each one of us today. -- D

    Mornin' everyone.

Ok it's 2:10 am, I've been studying my heart out, and now I'm at the point where I need to decide whether I should lay down now so I can get a couple hours of sleep or if I should chug along and try to make it. I still need to study more *sigh*, I'm fairly confident but I still doubt myself, ugh. But I really think I need some sleep, I'm not terribly tired now, but I know I'll be draggin butt in a few hours

Leslie, I hope you're able to get some good, solid sleep :icon_hug:

PresC, congrats on the new job!! That's great

    Good morning all!

I can't sleep, took some cold med that is non-drowsy. Sometimes that stuff can keep me awake. So I thought I would get up for a little while and try to get back to sleep soon.

Leslie, you asked about my dad. I stopped by after work yesterday for the first time in a week. Since we had all this flu stuff, I didn't want to take the chance and spread it to my folks. I asked him how he felt and he told me "great". I said it's better when you don't move, isn't it? He said "No, I feel good all the time" Mom told me he isn't even sitting up much now. The shortness of breath is getting so bad with even turning him. He is still able to turn himself, so Mom can change him. So far he is still able to get up on the bsc for a bm, but I don't know for how long. Mom gives him 0.25 ml of Morphine when he gets bad, it does help calm him down. He just lays in bed and watches TV and sleeps alot. His appetite had dropped even more lately. I told Mom if you get two decent meals a day in him, be happy. The hospice nurse did get him on Docusate Sodium which with the Sennakot seems to be moving his bowels more often. I am planning on trying to stop by more often. I'm worried about Mom, she has days when she doesn't feel good. I really think she is getting depressed. Dad requested that the HHA be decreased to once a wk because a bath wears him out. It bothers me because it's really to relieve Mom a little. I know we can increase it again later. That's my update so far, thanks for asking!

Well I think I'll try to go back to sleep! Talk to you all later!!

    good morning to all -

suzanne, how nice to see you here, starting the thread, like in the 'old' days. glad to hear you like what you are doing now, and where you are doing it. that helps a lot.

leslie, just got through reading yesterdays thread. i am glad your patient passed on peacefully. she has you to thank for that!
did i read it right - you served spinach to your family?!? a green vegetable? guess the only thing that would have surprised me more is if it had been brocoli.
must say it pleases me no end to think of you having 3 dogs and angie having 4 of them. the good lord knows how much poop i pick up with only two of them. oops! sorry guys - will try to refrain from discussing poop in the same sentence as thanking leslie for the maypo. yummy!

phn, sorry to hear your dad is going downhill. but still not wanting you to worry. how sweet. as long as he is comfortable. it must be hard on your mom - i'm sure she appreciates your visits.

diana, going to washington d.c! i've only driven through, but my daughter was there a few years ago on a business trip and did a whirlwind tour on her own. just loved it, especially that museum - is it the smithsonian? i think so. anyway she had a wonderful time. better start breaking in those walking shoes now!

roy, yeah! for the tattoo. i have a rose tattooed on my hip, and love it. also had a butterfly tattooed on my wrist but hated it from day one. for years covered it with a large watch. cost me $25. to have it put on (this was in 1981) and $400. to have it removed, in 1986. is yours in colors?

raindreamer, i hope you finally got some sleep. i feel for ya - nursing school is simply no fun. remember my graduation - was driving along yelling that part of the martin luther king speech about 'free at last, free at last, thank god almighty i'm free at last' at the top of my lungs. sure felt goooooooood.

btw, tweety - congratulations :hatparty: on that 98% - you deserve to be proud of yourself!! and i have great confidence in you doing fine in chemisty.

oh, dear - my posts do turn into novels, don't they? so, just want to say i read everyone's posts and i'm not naming everyone individually or we'll soon be on page 5.

i have to go into work fairly early today as still have a lot to catch up on from yesterday. but sometimes its just fine to be busy - its when it happens on a daily basis that it sucks.

hope we all have a terrific tuesday. hugs to all :icon_hug:
