Jun 22, '04Netters......sometimes I get the best stories to share. What's on your agenda today, on your day off?
Jun 22, '04Beautiful sunny day today, great day teaching. A retired Thai nurse that worked in CA for years visited yesterday and today..............it was alot of fun having her here................and a nice treat for me, too. She has worked NICU for years so we were busy comparing war stories. And she also brought in food, some of everything appeared out of no where.
Finally found out what my favorite vege looks like before it is cooked, I will post a picture tomorrow. It is some type of gourd, called bu-ab in Thai. It is what I usually have with shrimp a couple of times per week, you stir-fry it until it becomes transparent, or takes on the green color of the out-side, garlic is added in, along with some egg that is scrambled. Yum..............
Marie is arriving Saturday night from Michigan...............not sure what we will be doing next week....I am sure that Samui will be quite happy to see her.
Mischa as well. Just like old times.............
Taking forever to get everything loaded back into the laptop.......especially when some has to be added via internet and we only have dial-up connections.......probably a few more days but right now it seems like a new computer as so many things are different right now. Kind of fun.....
Jun 22, '04Yes, but did I like it? not really......
If you really want to get Bry fixed up, try to get away from cereals for breakfast, if he insists, try oatmeal, not the instant type.
But for the next few weeks I would try to cut out the cereals for breakfast and anything that is processed. At least as much as possible.
Jun 22, '04I really like the Kashi...we are just trying to come up with some quick, easy breakfasts for him (inexpensive as well) because he is always on the run and with the promotion will be leaving very early in the AM.
He loves oatmeal so it's always an option. Also cottage cheese with some fruit.
Jun 22, '04If he is grabbing something quick, how about penaut butter on whole grain toast? Egg salad on whole grain bread, make the sandwich the night before.
You can also blend the cottage cheese in the blender and put it on whole grain bread and put in the micorwave until the cheese bubbles. You want to add in more protein in the morning. Does it hve to be actual breakfast food?
I actually love cold chicken in the morning, especially a recipe that Oprah used to use. You marinate the chicken for several hours in plain yogurt in the refrigerator, dip in Italian bread crumbs, and bake for about 20 minutes.
You need to spray with cooking oil first. You can wrap them and store in the freezer, perfect even for you to take to school, by the time that you are ready for lunch they are defrosted. He can take one out of the freezer the night before to have for breakfast, and just leave in the frig.
He can make a wrap sandwich and take that to eat in the car or when he makes a stop.

Jun 22, '04Suzanne..thanks yet again. You are so full of information!! I don't think it really has to be breakfast food...he doesn't care. I have to get a list of everything you are suggesting printed up for him!

Jun 22, '04good tuesday morning!!
i put in 11 hours yesterday . (all of us in management did actually and we werent happy neither!) the state survey is going. lol they have "pointed out" a few charting problems we have so we spent hours last night trying to fix them. i told them to say something like "thank you so much for pointing that out to us...here is our plan of correction we have put in place today" so hopefully we won't get a deficiency on that problem anyway. the last don put some "strange" policies in while she was there and now we are paying the price. i swear i think that woman was nuts! then to top it off...i got three admissions after 5pm and was one nurse short:angryfire . one of the nurses actually had the nerve to tell me that he is going to call in today because he had to work too hard yesterday :angryfire . grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr where do people get their work ethics????????? then the night shift nurse came in and had the nerve to say "yall need to get all those orders taken off before you leave...you need to do this...you need to do that.." grrrrrrrrrr i told her she needs to learn what team work and 24 hour care means and help them! then i left her a list of stuff the don and administrator wanted done by the am:chuckle . oh gosh i could go on for hours...what's the use?! it is what it is.
qod....for relaxation i play on my puter. i come here and i play that online game i am addicted to lol. one of these days i just may have to work the 12 steps on that!
good morning to all my friends!!!!
Jun 22, '04I had someone point out to me that I had gained weight. I told them that I got fat by eating annoying skinny people. Pam
Jun 22, '04Good late morning, everyone. Great News!!!! My has been delivered and set up. . Can ya tell I'm excited???
Kimmy, your story was good not only for moms, but for grandmas too. It was adorable. Were you able to get some photos?
Tweety, I've had that happen to me too, a LOT!!! In fact, one particular person stands out very much in my mind. She was a church member. Dense as could be. Anyway, my sister, (14months younger than me) visited a few years back. She accompanied me to church. That particular person approached the two of us and asked, "Frances, is that your daughter?" I replied, "No, she's my sister." In response, she said, "Oh!
Another time my youngest daughter was with me. She once again approached and asked, "Frances, is that your grandaughter?" I replied, "No, she's my daughter." Never did quite get used to her.
However, if anyone asks me something like that, including about my size, I respond with a smile on my face, "Yep, I'm very very proud to be a grandma. You should try it sometime. It's a lot of fun," and "Yeah, she's my sister, but look how pretty my silver hair is!" Then I say, "I'm now fat, flat, and floppy, and now there's all that much more of me to love. And ya know what? Just look at all this skin I can give to the organ bank now. Generous, hunh."
Now getting to the QOD, I'm mostly at my computer. However when I do want to zone out, I read. I love to do that.
Have a wonderful day, all.Last edit by FranEMTnurse on Jun 22, '04
