Good Saturday Morning, January 15, 2005

  1. Hi, Everybody! Well, it's 15 minutes past midnight central standard time, and no good morning thread yet!?

    I'm honored.

Ahem! This is a thread where all are welcome to share their day to day routine (or not so routine) events, excitements, concerns, and support. We generally keep it pretty light (plenty of heavier threads elsewhere! ).

Come one, come all! We aren't a clique--and we are interested in hearing from anyone who will bless us with their contribution.

I finished my first week of work since earning my RN--no nursing yet, just orientation. Monday I have 8 hours of class, then I work 2 12's, Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm a little nervous and think I will probably be studying some this weekend.

Other than that, not a lot of news.

Hope everyone is well and happy, and that all our problems are little ones.

Man, almost an hour in here, all alone. I wonder if they closed the break room and went home and I'm the only one who didn't know.....

    Anybody else up?

    Goodmorning all........

I have insomnia - ugh! and am scheduled to do 2 12's this weekend.
Part of it is this darn cold I can't seem to shake...body aches blah blah blah and the other piece is that I decided to home school my 6 year old today.

I just took some cold medicine and now am worried I won't wake up for 5:15 and am considering calling in for my shift. I am concerned that I won't be able to focus tomorrow. Too much heavy stuff on my mind, not enough sleep, sick = scary nurse.

I am PRN so no work = no pay.

Keirnan - homeschooled? well...a couple of things firmed it up for me today - 1 of which I will share - overheard 3rd and 4th graders outside after school talking about sex and a disgustingly violent video game (re: naked women). If some of you know me at all you will know that this was just insane for me. He is in the gifted program, he's super bright and social. thank god I have a good friend who homeschools and is an invaluable resource to me.

Don't ask me how I am fitting my education + work + my 2 younger kids into this...I am just going to take some deep breaths and move through each piece as it comes. I know that I (we) are making the best choice. It's just scary.

Chris....Congrats on your first week of work!
    Keep on chuggin.....

    good morning all

Hi, Kate--how scary to overhear those little kids and that inappropriate conversation. Have you considered telling the principal (and anyone else whose ear you can get) what you heard? I think homeschooling is great, especially in light of these recent events.

Hi, Anna! Doesn't it just scream injustice when you have nowhere to go and can't sleep? I'd be in bed but I'm mildly annoyed, so I'm mostly waiting for my mood to calm down before I go back in there. Just one of those things.

Will this trip in March be your first to the US? In any case, welcome!!!

    See y'all later!

    Good Morning, Fam!!!!

Paid bills yesterday. Had a busy day at work too.

Just reviewing all the threads now. Off this weekend. I got my girls this weekend. Think we'll see a movie. Kids are 13 and 9. Any good movie ideas?
Not much happening at the moment....sometimes, that is a very good thing.

Think I'll read a couple more threads and hit the hay.

Wish you all the best today.

I'm making you all some virtual gravy and biscuits, made from scratch. Here's some homemade jam to go with it as well for your toast. Fresh squeezed OJ and some piping hot coffee for those who want it. Hold out your plates, fam. Breakfast is served. Mind your manners at the table now. And Tweety, no typing if your mouth is full. Kris, don't kick Katie with your foot under the table...I'll have to separate you both.

    Be good you'all.

    Mornin' Everyone!

Chris, sounds like you're really enjoying the new job, that's great! I hope next week goes smoothly for ya, I'm sure it will

Kate, hope you feel better and get rid of that cold. I think it's great that you're going to homeschool, the more I read and hear about it that's what I would want for my kids.

Anna, enjoy your week off work!

Thunderwolf, what a yummy breakfast, thanks so much .... I think I'll grab some biscuits and gravy and OJ. Have your girls seen The Incredibles yet? If not, then I highly recommend yall go see that! It's a fantastic movie, I've seen it 3 times in the theater now. I just can't say enough good things about it..... and it's a movie for everyone, kids and adults. Enjoy your weekend with your daughters

Here it is 4 a.m. and I'm wide awake, eeeeeeeek! We had more of the EKG class today, me and half the class just stared at the instructor like :stone , so I didn't feel so bad, it looks like I'm not the only one that is completely clueless! This weekend I'm going to review all the chapters again and just keep working on it and then work on the 100 pages of practice strips we have to turn in next Thursday. Then I need to start on the reading for my Critical Care class. Only the first week of classes and it's already kicking my butt, this is going to be a tough semester I'm afraid, thank God it's my last!

We have Monday off!! :hatparty: I'm glad about that, maybe go see a movie or at least rent a movie or 2, I'll need a break sometime and have to at least enjoy part of my weekend. I was so tired today after class I ended up taking a nap from 2:30 'till 5:30 and now I'm wide awake

    'Morning all !

Enjoying my second cup of coffee here, and slowly eeeeeeeasing into the day.
Beethoven playing in the background to pleasantly set my mood.

Thanx for b'fast, Thunder.. and would you please tell Tweety to quit sticking his tongue out at me? It's not nice.

Chris, ahh.. the novelty of it all. So which floor/unit will you be working on, anyway? I, too, am looking forward to your updates.

Anna, enjoy ! Buffalo is pretty kool... and maybe you'll be lucky enough to run into Roy !!!

Kate.. I'm with you.. if I had to raise kids again these days, I'd sure be homeschooling, too. You can do this.

Well, let me check my mail here, and get about my day. Bills to work on, and then I have 2 mos. of nursing notes to catch up on, and our 6 mo. short term care plans are due as well. I'm glad I have the next three days off to accomplish all this. :stone

DH's hearing aid died last night, and he was beside himself.. so was I . I thought ONE of us was going to have to move out for the weekend if he didn't get it fixed. I am NOT going to spend my three days off with the TV full blast.. and I do mean FULL blast! Up to the highest volume bar, and he STILL can't hear it. Stone deaf, that man. That would make us BOTH deaf.

But I found some $30.00 hearing amplifiers I had ordered him from an infomercial last year before he finally went and bought a hearing aid... and they work pretty darn well, I might add!
So those will get us through the weekend 'til he can get back to the office and have his repaired. Why does this stuff always happen on the freakin' WEEKEND when offices are CLOSED ? Arrrgh.

    Good morning all!!

I need to catch up on yesterday's news this morning!! We had a busy day with the funeral and family. It was nice to see everyone, all 21 grandchildren were there. At the visitation, we prayed the rosary and I know she would have loved it! One of the granddaughters made her sugar cookies and we "toasted" her at the end! What a legacy she left!!
When we got home, the contractor had torn into the old part of the upstairs to connect the new part. So there is now a fine dust everywhere!!! I just swept up the major part of it on the floor and otherwise I'll have to just forget it!! I know this is the beginning of the mess we have now got ourselves in!

Thunder, breadfast sounds wonderful!!! I'm having a cinnamon roll and coffee this morning.
Jnette, you poor thing! I know what you mean about the TV volume. My dad had his blaring most of the time and it's very annoying!

Well, I'm going to catch up on yesterday's news now! I hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday!!

Good morning all. It feels weird being her earlier than 2 p.m. :chuckle Very cold here today. Just glad it waited this long to get cold. Really enjoyed that "warm spell".

Nothing much on my agenda today, just the regular housework and may study a bit. Did all my running around yesterday after clinicals, so hope I won't have to get out today. Can stay in my sloppy floppies all day!

Chris you sound excited about the new job, hope it works out for you.

Anna hope you enjoy your trip.

    Tweety good morning!

Raindreamer we have Monday off too, and you don't hear me complaining either

Kate hope that cold gets better soon.

    Thunderwolf thank you for breakfast.

Phn hope you have a good Saturday too.

Jnettecan you hear me now?? :chuckle

Hope everyone has a good day, stay warm.

    Hugs
