Good Morning, Peeps.
After downing this mug of coffee, I'm off to see a patient. I volunteered to take one off the hands of my on-call colleagues, to make it a bit easier on them this weekend. She doesn't live far from me, so I take her today and tomorrow. Then it's home to tackle my bills and this slobola house, which needs a good cleaning!
.. as for how Mom did in Germany.... Pati and Roo say she looked like she crawled out from under a rock when they picked her up. Evidently she had not bathed ONCE the entire three mos. she was gone!
On top of that, she is incontinent now more often than not..(ANOTHER new development). They had to throw most of her clothes out when they opened her suitcase. She never washed them, but rolled them up and stuffed them back in her suitcase. Unbelievable.
They've got her wearing depends now, and she's not arguing about it. She's agreeable to everything.. which is SO unlike her! Heh.
As far as being alone during the day, Pati already has a new doc lined up for her in Tucson.. her OWN doc who Pati thinks the world of, and he specilazes in Geriatrics.. that's his favorite population. And at our request, he will be making a referral for HH care nursing as well as a HH aide to come in daily to help with her hygiene, and getting her dressed and ready for the day, so Pati and Roo can still work. There is a woman across the street who cared for her aging mother until she passed... she will be coming to spend the day with Mom (she is an artist/writer and doesn't work) so Pati and Roo can keep their jobs.
When I take her out here, I, too, will have HH Care lined up for her, along with an aide. And I'm usually home by noon or shortly thereafter, and dh is home all the time when he's not on the golfcourse. He has to problem seeing to Mom's needs. So he can go play golf when I get home, etc. We'll work it all out one way or another.
But no, she certainly can no longer stay alone. Ever. She's too far gone now. Pati says she still has lucid moments, when you'd think there was nothing wrong, but they don't last but a few minutes at a time. So we learn to cherish those brief times when she has them and go from there.
... glad to hear dh made it home... finally ! Shew. Rest up.. both of you!
OK.. better get ready. Things to do !
