Good Morning Tuesday October 3

  1. Hey, I'm back. I havent' had Internet service for over a month. Long story, problems with server.

So, I am able to get on today and I get to start the morning thread .

My life has been a shambles over the last month. In addition to no Internet and missing all of you (which has been the worst), my van has been giving me problems. I have had it to, I think, 6 different people and nobody can seem to figure out what the problem is. But, hopefully, today's trip to the mechanic will be the last (whether they can fix it or it needs to be trashed). Thankfully, my in-laws have an extra vehicle so I have been able to at least have transportation.

My other problem is my 8-year-old son who all of a sudden this school year has developed some severe anxiety about going to school. He cries almost every morning on the way to school, then once he gets at school, he is fine. I am at a loss as to what is wrong. He tells me nothing is wrong, but he develops migraines on Sunday night and then has this problem going to school. My doctor is suggesting some counseling to see if we can figure out what the problem is. I think that needs to be his next step. He can go from being happy, to crying, to happy in a matter of minutes. I am beginning to wonder if he is not bipolar. And I know part of it is genetics, since I have severe depression and anxiety. Oh well, hopefully counseling will give us the answer.

Thanks for listening to my rant. Just, please, say a prayer for my baby.

Now for breakfast, I'm trying to be good and stick to my diet, so it will be whole wheat toast, yougrt and skim milk. For all of you who don't need to worry about their weight, you can have the pancakes drenched in syrup.

I should get to bed soon. I'm back up in 5 hours.

    Love to all.

Thank you, Diane, for getting the thread off to a glorious start.

Have you considered the possibility that your 8-year old son might have school anxiety due to being bullied or teased at school without your knowledge? I know.....it seems far-fetched, but it's also a thought.

Yes, we have thought of this. He is telling me no. And all the teachers have been watching and they haven't seen anything. But, thanks for the thought.

    Hiya Diane and Commuter!

Diane, awww your poor little one, I can't imagine how that hurts you to see him crying and being so anxious about going to school. My sister was the same way ..... she would get "sick" every Sunday night and throw a fit about going to school every morning. Kids shouldn't have to be so worried about such things It's good that you're getting him the right help and hopefully it's just a simple answer as to why he doesn't want to go to school. Thoughts and prayers for you all.

I'm trying to stay up late tonight so I can sleep all day tomorrow since I have to work tomorrow night. I'm so bored!

5cardiac, it's good to see you back! Your ongoing vehicle troubles sound VERY frustrating (glad you have a spare set of wheels)! I hope this present mechanic can figure things out for you. Hugs, too, for your 8yo and for you. How we hurt when our children hurt!! Sounds like you are proceeding to the next helpful step, after exhausting all the other avenues. I certainly hope the counseling helps. Our children's worries, which we may perceive as miniscule, can be frightening and overwhelming to them, who lack the abstract thinking skills and logic and maturity to manage and cope. You're a good Mom, give yourself a hug and forge ahead.

Greetings, Commuter! How's the weather in Ft. Worth?? I've never been there; I did attend a conference about 5 yr ago, in San Antonio. Enjoyed the walking tour in the "old" neighborhood, going thru The Alamo and taking a bus tour of five missions. So much history, so little time!!

Hi Rainy, stay awake, OK?? Isn't there anything on TV that's halfway entertaining????

    I'm almost off to bed myself (still recovering from a busy weekend!) . . . y'all have a good whatever!! -- D

    Mornin' folks!

Off to bed soon. Didn't want to leave you without your song of the day!

Hope y'all have a great day! I'm probably off to Springfield today - I'm going to see my BON. I either walk out with a license or there'll be hell to pay!

    GOOD MORNING, PEEPS!!

Diane, Thanks for starting the thread!!
Will say prayers for your dear son; Since I don't have kids, I can't give any advice about this, but perhaps some t ype of counciling would not be out of line!! Sorry about your vehicle!! and again, it is good that you have one to use. I hope you can get some sleep tonite so you can be well rested!!

Commuter--Hope you have a really good day!

Rain-- sorry you have to stay up all nite--if you were to sleep tonite, would you not be able to nap just before going into work? If I am off, I can usually sleep regular the nite before, and then nap a few hours before I have to go in. Do you work 7-7 or 11-07? I do 11-0730. But I usually only get about 5 or 5 1/2 hrs at best. I kind of feel bad for you!! I have been doing nites for so many years I've practically lost count!! If I had to work the day shift again, I wouldn't even know what to do!! LOL

Dianah--Hope you get some rest. It sounded like you had quite a weekend!!

Roy-- I wish you well with the BON!!
I will listen to your song when I get home!! They are always such good choices.

Well, Not much here for me--DH, despite shoulder injury, is going out to the Golf Course, with t he guys---Will try to do some putting & Chip shots!! Says this won't hurt his shoulder & his Therapist OKed it!! I don't know, I don't like it!!:angryfire I guess I'm being overly protective!! and a NURSE!!
    Oh well!!

I hope you all have a great day!! and also, all of you yet to post have a great day!!

My nite is BUSY!! Lots of new idiot stuff to do arounf=d here!! If they would just let us do patient care insteard of all this junk!! when we started with the computer charting we were told they want a COMPLETLY paperless system!! We have MORE paper work then ever all of a sudden!!
Well, I'll quit complaining all ready!!

    Morning all!!

Sorry about your 8yo Diane - school phobia is a recognised condition here in the UK (as I'm sure it is in the US etc too). Kids usually respond to therapy, smaller classes &/or some one to one support in school. Luckily your child has your support & that counts for a lot! Hope things turn out okay. Also hope the transport situation sorts out too!

Nice chill out song Roy - loved the vidoe too. Hope you get out from the BON with your license safely in your hand!

I used to stay up the night before I worked too Rain - hope you manage to get the balance right. I hated nights - it's my ultimate nightmare ending up having to do them in the USA to get my green card! I just don't cope!! It's not the working, it's the daytime sleeping inbetween I just can't do!!

Talking of sleeping I hope you had a good nights sleep in the end Dianah.

Yeah that to the junk versus nursing Mary! We counted some 28 peices of paper we have to fill in & or file just for one admission!! It's a ridiculous waste of nursing time, especailly as so much is duplicated, especially demographic details. It takes longer for the nurse to admit some patients than it takes the doctor to do their surgery!! As for your DH, there's no telling these guys is there! They won't be happy until they cripple themselves & are out for months instead of the weeks it might have been if they were sensible!

Well I guess I'm going to trawl round the forum for a bit before taking my shower etc. I'm off today then early for the next 3 shifts.

Hope everyone has a great day xxx

Good morning. Getting ready for work. Diane, I agree. I think some counciling and 1:1 might help. We so stew about our kids. I'll be praying. Hope the van problems resolve. My TransSport is a '93 and I'm nursing it along. I sympathise.

Good morning to all! Nice to see you back Diane. Hope things get ironed out with your son. Will be thinking about you!

Brrrr 44 degrees here now but will get up to the 70's. Woke up at 6:50 a.m. and couldn't figure out if it was a.m. or p.m. Looked right into the face of an orange furry beast sitting on my shoulder. Quickly came to my senses that it was indeed morning and the animal kingdom was looking to be fed.

Work 3-11 today. I hope they have the new computer system more ironed out than it was the other day! BBL
