I'm a bit ahead, but going to walk the dogs briefly to settle them down because they are so excited I'm home. Around 6:00pm I got real hot, thinking "this isn't good" I took some tylenol and went to work because it's way to early to call in. One hour later I'm 101.8! So I had to be sent home after 8 hours. I'm bothered because I had to the the floor short as they weren't able to replace me. My orientee and the charge nurse have my six patients, plus the charge nurse has three patients of her own. Another nurse has 9 patients. They all were very supportive of me however, but I still feel bad.

Spouse gave me the flu, we share everything. :chuckle

Good night. I slept all day, but something tells me I'll be able to sleep at night.

Right before I left a patients mom gave me the "I'm a CNA, and I can tell you aren't taking proper care of my son!". Me: "What does he need?" Her: You haven't been in here in three hours". Me. "I beg your pardon, I was just in here 30 minutes ago, but I didn't approach the patient because he was sleeping (didn't want to tell her I was still febrile), so I checked his repsirations, and felt he was fine." Her: "You're lying and I will be going to administration in the morning!". Me: "I've been a professional nurse here many years and I am not a liar, and that we'll have to agree to disagree and end this conversation. My name is Tweety (name withheld for confidentiality ) and the manager's name is....but rest assured...blah blah blah...." I was so angry. I hate when people in the profression disrespect others in the profression like that.

    good almost morning from oregon,

are you asleep yet, suzanne? sorry you had such a long day.

tweety, know how you feel about needing to leave work, but at least everyone knew you were really ill. sometimes poop just happens! get some rest now, sweets.
think you handled the cna mom very well. not sure i could be that polite. but i'll have you know i almost spit my beer all over the keyboard when i read "my name is tweety" maybe you should have told her that.

spacenurse, can we make that graham crackers broken up in a bowl of hot milk? we used to have that as kids and i loved it. thanks for the breakfast. obviously you're out here on the west coast also, huh?

well, i'm counting down the days till i resign. have a lot to catch up to do as i really don't want to leave work undone for the other nurse to have to deal with. was supposed to go to portland today for a meeting but since i'm leaving get out of that. yeah!!
i'm off to read for a bit before sleep. hope thursday is a magnificent day for all of us!

Weetzie, glad I made you laugh. I just wanted to be sure that when she went to administration, she got my name correct. If there's one thing I'm not, that's a liar. But of course, I can always tell administration that if we had proper and safe ratios patients would get better care and checked on more frequently.

I slept another five hours after sleeping all day, and woke up with the spouse, what a difference more sleep made. I'm feeling much better. I think if it was a 24 hour bug like man's then I should be through soon, as I probably was sick and febrile all day yesterday.

Cable guy should be coming to change the cable modem so I can have reliable service.

Got a paper to write today! Only two more papers and I'm done with this course! I made a 95.5 on my Power Point Presentation! Woot!

Oh, thanks Leslie and Dianah and others for support.

Leslie, can't really take anytime off until then. Then I go to daytime hours when I come back and hope that helps with my vague symptoms of not feelling rested. Thanks again for your support.

    Morning all,

Tweety sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope your recovery is speedy. Gotta say you handled the mom better than I would, (I am fond of telling people like her to take a long walk off a short cliff).

Sore throat is worse today, hopefully it will go away soon. Still gotta go to class, don't wanna miss new material.

Hope everybody has a great day.

Hi Tweety - some of our nurses had a similiar experience recently with the daughter of a patient. The daughter was a RN. She wrote up a myriad of complaints and took them to our DON. Her mom on the otherhand thought we all did a good job and wrote a nice thank you. By the time I received the patient, her daughter had mellowed out. I didn't have any problems, that I know about anyway. The daughter didn't say anything to the nursing staff, just went straight to the DON.

I'm being lazy today . . . Need to pay bills. Clean the house. Etc.

Instead I'm drinking coffee, just read the paper and now on allnurses.

I have to agree with you Tweety. You would think that people in the same profession would understand instead of the opposite. Since they work in the same conditions day in and day out. Hope you get to feeling better. I am just now starting to feel better from the flu this week. Rest and feel better soon.

    Love,
