Good Morning Thursday Dec 20th!

  1. At least it's 30min into Thursday here. Just got back from closing the store...and glad I got the next two days off!

Gotta run one of the cats to the groomer's tomorrow. And turn up the heat until her coat grows out again. Then off to the Christkindle market downtown for some spiced wine and such.

Friday I finish the rest of my shopping: a gift card for Mario Tricocci for my sister and an LED headlamp for my BIL. Then off to my dad's to wrap it all up, literally and figuratively.

Then I work, Sat-Tues. Tiring Christmas this year...

Anyway, off to bed. I'll read a bit first, an interesting story about the Carthusians, one of the most reclusive groups of contemplative monks still in existence.

    Happy Thursday!

I can't believe the week is already on a downswing. That's one thing I don't like about working weekends. By the time I get enough energy to accomplish something, it's time to start resting up for work. I guess it could be worse. I could be stuck working retail at this time of year. Been there, done that. . . . Ugh!

I have to get to bed. Ds and I have to be up and at 'em early tomorrow. I'll go to the credit union at work and get some money to finish-up for Christmas. Then we'll be off the the fishery in The Strip. I have to call them first though to see if they have Virginia Spots in. Mmmmmmmm . . . . . Fil is doing "7 fishes" this Saturday. Since I live so close, I told him ds and I could pick-up the Spots. Then I want to scrub the kitchen floor and clean the bathroom. Dear sister is stopping over sometime during the day to spoil her godchild a bit and pick-up some $$$. Dh and I will shop for a tree when he gets home from work. It's going to be a small one this year so we can put it on a table out of someone's reach. Aren't I a mean mommy? Too bad. I really have no desire to extract pine needles and ornaments from someone's mouth, or worse yet, his poop.

Joe- you have my sympathy working retail at this time of year. You need to spend the 26th with a small glass of wine or a beer in hand and your feat propped-up in fromt of a fire. I hope you and kitty stay toasty.

I'd rather chew off my right arm than work in a store during the holiday season. I hope their paying you well! Two 12 hr shifts and an 8 hour shift a week make me want to commit myself.

I followed a link in MTP thread about TMZ and have spent the last 2 hours reading gossip.

Several things to do today that I've put off: return shoes to SAKS, go to the post office again, pay bills again, clean again, do laundry again, and I really want to go to the Roman sculpture exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It runs until Jan so no biggie if I don't make it. And I also wanted to go to the massive cemetary where Benjamin Harrison is buried and take photos. I know it may sound macabre, but I love taking pics of cemetary sculpture.

I doubt all get all that accomplished and still rest for my Thurs night shift. Friday, my two oldest nieces are taking me out for my birthday.

Ok, now I'm tearing up, I miss them so much. Hope you all have a good day!

What's the name of the book? Sounds very interesting.

I've been stuck in a mode where I'm re-reading everything. Right now I'm reading 1984 and it's never held so much significance for me as it does with this administration. I'm certainly seeing it in a new light.

    hello from down under!
thanks for starting the thread today, joe. enjoy your days off!

today is our 32nd wedding anniversary.
and while no medal arrived in the post, these came instead!
bless him! dh spoilt me today!

we have no special plans to celebrate. just going to have some of the abundant leftovers in the fridge and share a small bottle of nice white wine.

given a different choice, i would have married at another time of year. this close to my birthday and christmas makes it one heck of a week for us! however, we had to marry during dh's leave from the military. back in those days :d they had leave at christmas and mid-year. the christmas leave being the longer period of time. and... in summer! soooo, we chose to marry then because it best suited so many people, and gave us longer for a holiday before having to begin our new life together. never even gave it a real thought that in doing so, we'd have our anniversary, my birthday and christmas all in the one week! oh well, it's done now!

ds is enjoying being home. he's really really really unwinding and relaxing! (this is not him, of course! but... just to give you the idea!) lol

that luxurious new queen size bed is certainly getting a workout! :d mind you, he's also been working out each day also. going for runs and lifting weights. keeping himself in shape despite being on leave. it's just great having him home!

we've got some hot weather here at present. 28c today. i'm grateful for the a/c.

wishing everyone a happy and safe thursday!

Still Wednesday here, but what the hey...

I have worked food retail before, but never in a department or clothing store. Can't say as how I regret missing that rite of passage.

Nursey, I love going to the Strip. We spent an afternoon there when we were visiting over the summer. We don't have anything comparable here. I had an Italian boyfriend whose family did the 7 fishes thing.

Earlier I wrote in my journal that I was going to go take a nap. I slept for close to 3 hours. Sigh. Now I'm not the least bit tired.

Reading Grace's post about her son returning for break and taking it easy reminds me of a convo I had with my office mate the other day. She was expressing dismay that her son is spending his break sleeping till noon, eating her out of house and home and playing on the computer. I said to her "isn't that what you did on your college breaks, though?" (sans the computer, of course, but my question was didn't she just spend her breaks kicking back). She told me "no. I've always been a highly motivated person". This was not the first time it has occurred to me how little she and I have in common... my breaks were spent sleeping, eating and hanging out with friends and I don't regret one moment of it!

    Happy Anniversary Grace!!

Morning all. Couldn't sleep anymore so I'm up having coffee. Fell asleep early last night--perhaps still some anesthesia left from my dental procedure...but anyway I was pooped and couldn't hold my eyes open any longer.

Nothing planned for today--must wrap pressies! I used to enjoy this but now I tend to put it off for as long as I can.

    Good Morning one and all,

Is it only Thursday? Darn it I woke praying for Friday LOL

Happy 32nd Wedding Anniversary Gracie and Mr Gracie. What an awesome achievement. I pray the same for Hubby and Myself. So glad you got spoilt.

I put this in yesterday's post but had to redo it today so you could all have a giggle.

I saw a wee little 92 yr old patient of mine and during our chat she told me she was a little 'consolidated'!

    Consolidated I say!

Yes consolidated- have not been for nearly two days!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see and have you taken......

I tried so hard not too laugh but you know what.. if you are constipated it is kinda consolidated eh? So I thought that was rather smart of her!!

Hmmmmmm no ideas for the men around here either LOL

Have another busy day running around various places in VA.
Should be a great day with my patients I am praying.

Got to meet the last two new admits yesterday and that went very well. Seems some of my patients are getting younger and younger:uhoh21:

Suzy don't put too much work into wrapping my pressie as it won't take me long ripping it open!

Hope you all have a super day what ever you are doing.

I plan to make my day a good one or bust trying

    Mornin' y'all.

Just got back home from vacation.

Absolutely exhausted. Of the three weeks, I spent a grand total of 4 days in bed..... that too only because I was sick (bad, bad head cold and then followed up with a sudden attack of gastroenteritis). The rest of the time, I was way too busy running around visiting others. I've made up my mind - the next time, I'm going home and staying put. If people want to see me, they can make the bloody trip... I'm not going to go running around again. It's just insane!

My paternal grandmother passed away two days before my vaca ended. Grandma passed away on the birthday of my cousin sister (the same one whose marriage I just attended during this vaca)... and incidently, my cousin was named after my paternal grandma. Grandma outlived her husband by exactly one month short of 30 years. Interesting, huh?

*sigh* Father took this news very hard. He's heart broken (he just lost a sister not even a year ago). I'm worried about him - he's been in pretty poor health the past couple of years and I suspect he has mild depression (but Father being Father, he won't say a word. Prefers to suffer in silence). I taught Mother lots of "signs to watch out for" - especially for heart attacks (stress test early this year showed that Father was at risk for a stress-induced attack). I'm waiting for him to retire next year so that I can bring him over here on vacation and get him to relax.

Eh! Sorry for being a wet blanket this morning. Like I said, I'm just super tired and am just rambling. Need some sleep. Start work tonoc :stone

Hope y'all have a good day!

    Happy Anniversary Grace.

Roy hope your dad gets to doing better.

Just here at work waiting for the last two hours to go by so I can go and see my little Grace. I just love snuggling with her. Yesterday we didn't get up until 10:30. She's a morning sleeper just like her mom. Do some of my best sleeping in the morning, but it just doesn't happen on the weekends. My other two kids make sure we get up.

Hope everyone has a blessed day, and Merry Christmas early.
