Good Morning! Thursday February 8

1. Greetings y'all . . . from a rainy Northern CA.

It has been pouring here. I guess we needed it - have had a long dry spell and nice weather. But Mt. Shasta needed snow.

I've been awake almost 24 hours - time for bed. Not working tomorrow.

Someone make breakfast for all who follow. (Where's Renee when we need her?).

Y'all are going to have to cook for yourselves. I don't cook unless it comes out of a box. Freezer stocked with Lean Cuisine's.

Wanted to watch Bones on the internet but FOX doesn't have it up yet. My favorite show.

So pissed off at my chem professor. Every test day, we have to turn in a 3 ring binder with our notes, homework, and practice tests that we do. None of this is graded, but the grade is on how well it's organized and complete. I got a big fat incomplete. Why? Because I didn't seperate the notes and the tests into sections. Chapter is divided into sections like 1.1, 1.2, etc. Ok, the tests and the notes (he writes the notes and we get them off the internet) do not stop at the end of a section. Carries onto the next page. So, I am expected to go back and do what he should have done in the first place. And he wants lots of dividers. If you multiply each chapter that we're going to do (20) by 10 that's how many dividers he wants. Then in btw we are to put the pages that pertain to that section. I don't mind doing homework, practice tests, etc. It's not the work that makes me mad, but the fact that I have to go back and make a new page for all the work he has done. And he never told us about this. Said just to put it in a binder. I did divide by chapters but that apparently wasn't good enough. If he didn't know my family I would tell him where to shove that binder. He knows my mom's side - the everyone was a valedictorian, pillar of the community except me. Feel I have to prove something to him. Not good enough, not smart enough, not strong enough.

I've never had an incomplete before.....so I cried and drank.

Ok, that was my vent for the day. You can proceed now with your regularly scheduled thread.

GOOD MORNING, LITTLE PEEPS!!

Steph, Thanks for starting the thread. I hope you are able to get some sleep!! Sorry about the rain---I don't mind the rain as much as snow--as long as it;s not freezing rain.

Beth, I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time of it in Chemistry.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) ))))))))))))))):icon_hug: :icon_hug:
Thinking about it, I seem to remember that 43 yrs ago when I took Chemistry, it was one of my hardest. It also was the class that nearly got my WHOLE class EXPELLED!! The instructor apparantly had our final exam on her desk & then it was "stolen". Never turned up. We were all forced to take lie detector tests!! Not a nice thing. We were all confined to the campus for several weeks & there were a few other little little "punishments".
After a couple of weeks, it was NEVER mentioned again----we always felt that she misplaced the test.
Funny thing---a few weeks later, she was GONE as well as the Director of the School of Nursing!!!
So I have SOME memories of Chemistry class.

Well, work is BUSY, but better tonite. I'm giving blood to one pt & platelets to another. Plus I have a sickle cell pt with really BAD pain. Lots of Morphine every two hours. I really think a PCA would have been better for her. The poor thing. I've gotten her some extra doses, and that is helping a bit.

I have a Doctor's appt. RIGHT after work---0815.
Then off to Trader Joe's.
We're picking up a few little "gag" gifts for my mom for her party.
She is a CHOCOHOLIC from way back, so I'll get some of there LOVELY VERY CHOCOLATEY Merangues (sp?). Also some of there Chocolate Chip Dunkers---She loves them.
Besides the picture collage & DVD I'm making, we are giving her a Money Tree.
We are making it---at Michael's I found these cute little Easter Trees----they are kind of white & twigy with little colored balls on them. There are these little wires on it & we will attach 90 $5.00 bills to it. I made a little sign to attach to it & it says Harriet's Money Tree!!!
I hope she likes it---I hope she lkes the whole party thing.
I'm really working to make this SPECIAL for her.
DH is working hard on the house, as well. I talked to him about midnight & he was still painting!!

Well, I'll leave you all with just a bit of refreshment
Nice, fresh, hot coffee

Decaff

How about some extras
and some nice hot, strong tea

and just a bit of breakfast

That's all I have time for

I hope everyone has a really lovely day; hope I can get back later

I'm up early--but then again I took a long nap yesterday and fell asleep pretty early as well. I'm sure I'll be paying for it later. I'm off today and will work Fri & Sat evenings. Still waiting for that phone call that my g/f is in labor. I'm sure no one wants it more than she does!

g'day mary ann,
thanks for the cuppa tea. i'm more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker, but enjoy both. the plans for your mum's party sound like fun! i know you've been working hard on it. you are a kind and loving daughter to do this for her. i'm sure she'll enjoy every minute of it.
don't work too hard tonight!

well, we collected the new car today! :hatparty: i won the toss of the coin and got to be the one to have first drive! :d felt like riding on clouds! weelll, as i imagine riding on a cloud would feel anyway! :chuckle i was like a kid with a new toy on the drive home. spoke with dd on the phone during the drive. it's got one of those phone things in it whereby you put your mobile phone in the holder and can talk hands free. the radio turns itself down while you hold a conversation, and you just talk as if you were talking to a passenger. the microphone is set above the drivers window and the sound is pure stereo! just amazing! i've now joined the twenty first century! i tell you, this car is something else! can't believe we've got something so modern and beautiful! looking forward to some great travelling into the country and interstate in it. and importantly........
when y'all come to visit, we've got a really lovely set of wheels to drive you around in and show you the sights!!!!!

ok, time to read the rest of yesterday's thread! there goes that timezone thing again! always chasing my tail trying to catch up / keep up / stay ahead /behind!!!!!! :spin:
have a safe and happy thursday everyone!
cheers................

did i say blues? i meant thrashers. the atlanta thrashers and buffalo sabers are teams who compete in the national hockey league - ice hockey

highlights video from their game on feb 6. 2007. thrilling game that went into ot and finally ended with a shoot out:

i'm a 'native' of buffalo, ny - home of the buffalo sabers. many in the nhl tend to write us off (especially when the team filed for bankruptcy after corrupt owners nearly destroyed the team).... but we've been doing pretty good the past two years and have had a record breaking season this year.

i can't wait for them to win the playoffs!
