    That's the spirit, Marla !

I eat whenever.. I don't have set "mealtimes".. so I eat virtually ALL day long. It's true ! At least when I'm home.. I'm just an eating MACHINE !!!

But perhaps that what helps me.. 'cuz I'm far from overweight.

But I've decided I need to quit with the junkfoods, too, and I really, REALLY like those tiny fresh baby carrotts that come in those bags... and they are PERFECT for my oral fixation ! Better those than the junk.
I love those things, too......I really crave crunchy stuff, and I'm learning to substitute baby carrots, Kashi cereal, and apples to satisfy that urge instead of eating a bowl of popcorn with half a stick of melted butter poured all over it! But I still need to curb that urge to chew on something all the time, which is why I think eating four or five small meals per day helps. Sometimes a 'meal' consists of half a bagel and an apple with a cup of milk, but it's enough variety to satisfy that need to gnaw on something and keeps me comfortable, without being stuffed, for 3-4 hours.

It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but I am determined that sanity WILL reign where food is concerned if it takes me until I'm 80!!

This is no lie. I just woke up and I had a dream, a very vivid dream were I was "kidnapped" and sent to an overeaters treatment center???? Must have beent he doritoes and Ben and Jerry's I had for breakfast. :uhoh21:

I've been doing fairly well with eating decently, but for the last couple of days. I just had a nice spinach salad while the turkey breast is cooking. I'm with Marla, I'm not cutting out any food groups or foods, just need to moderate the intake of them. Like why did I need to eat two of those little bags of doritoes and the whole pint of ice cream....sigh....maybe I do need a treatment center.

I'm still going to Curves at least 2-3 times a week, but since the holidays I gained back a few pounds. I am craving sweets like crazy!!! I can't seem to get back to my routine of portion sizes and drinking lots of water. It is getting frustrating! It's the junk food I want more than anything. I really want a bowl of ice cream right now and I am really trying not to eat at a late hour. It's 8:30 pm right now for me! So I am on the computer to keep my hands busy, so I won't want to eat. Hope it helps!! So Marla I know what you mean!!!

Good Lord Tweety, what have YOU been smoking lately??!!

Actually, I've got a history of having terrible dreams whenever I eat too much close to bedtime. You'd think I'd know better by now. The last time I stuffed myself, it was like 11PM and I'd gotten a yen for a bowl of Captain Crunch, which turned into TWO bowls and some fudge, as well as a couple of candy canes. That night I dreamt I'd forgotten a patient during the entire shift, and the patient turned out to be my own 22-year-old daughter who was in labor!! What a nightmare!! In the dream she was writhing in pain and yelling "Mom, how could you forget me and Wiley (the name she's chosen for a boy) for eight whole HOURS??" AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!

    I haven't done that since.

i've heard for a while that having sev'l mini meals throughout the day is the way to go as it keeps your metabolism always working.
and the combo of high fiber foods AND drinking water with it keeps you feeling fulller much longer.
and these new flavored waters are awesome; that's all my kids drink now. yes, it's much more expensive but healthier than tonic and other sweetened drinks.

Marla, I don't remember my dreams usually. This was strange. Oh well, perhaps it's sending me a message. Don't overeat!

I'm going to the doc tomorrow for my first real physical of my adult life with an MD that I hope will be my doc for a while. I'm 45 and don't have a doctor. It's going to be interesting to find out my cholestorol and such.

Tweety oh yeah I forgot she went to bed with the chickens!!!

Please let me know how the doctor thing goes! I really really need to go get my cholesterol checked too but am scared to. My cousin had hers checked last summer and it was 310!! Can you imagine? The doctor called her right away at work and made her come get a Rx he was scared she was gonna have a stroke. Needless to say that scared the hell out of me, now I don't want to get mine checked! WELL now that I have scared you to death I will shut up!! lol

Oh, I love those flavored waters.........they come in all sorts of delicious fruity tastes now, and they have few or no calories and very little sodium. WalMart and Safeway sell good quality house brands for reasonable prices---actually cheaper than soda if you catch 'em on sale---and I like to stock up when Costco has them.

I've taken to bringing a sports bottle that my son-in-law gave me for Christmas to work, filling it up with ice and water from the machine in the break room, and sipping on it throughout the shift. It's one way to guarantee that I'll drink at least ONE liter of plain water a day, and I usually drink more because I get so dried out from running up and down the halls. As a result, I've cut back on the amount of Diet Coke I drink, and that can't be anything but good.

It wasn't that I didn't like telling them when I would be back after going out for a night, it's just that I had gotten used to NOT having to tell anyone. It's just all so hard to explain.
Nope. Not to hard at all. I understand exactly what you mean.

The first night I got home at 3 in the morning, I was surprised to see both Father AND Mother awake and both of them lowered the heavy artillery on me!

Gee! Back in Buffalo, getting home at 5 in the morn wouldn't have raised nobody's eyebrows!

Guess we all get used to being too independent and forget that human beings like our parents get worried sick about us!

I'm sure we'll go through the sam when we have our kids.

*sigh* I'm already dreading having boys - I know how much of a BRAT I WAS, can't imagine what my son would be like! *shudder*
