Good Morning November 18, 2005

  1. Well, hello and happy Friday!:hatparty:

Siri - the disaster drill was for all of California . . . we had one bomb go off at the church across the street from our hospital and then a few minutes later a bomb detonated at our resource center and then a bomb was found in our Purchasing Department. That one did not go off.

I got to play in the ER - it ended up being fun.

Yes, lots of fake blood and broken bones and punctured lungs and doa's.

Took my daughter to the big city after work - she did most of the driving since I've been up since 1:45 a.m. Had dinner at a nice mexican restaurant. Hit Target for some necessities.

Ok - now for breakfast . . . . . leftover shrimp quesadillas, refried beans, spanish rice, tortilla soup, and corn tortillas. Oh and fresh homemade salsa.

Coffee, or maybe a beer ?

    TGIF!

    Morning all.

Steph I mearly had a fit when I read your comments thought that bombs were going off for real, yep i know I'm an idiot just woke up.

Not posted on the morning thread for about a week so I hope every body is doing ok.

13 days for me and we'll be coming, so much to do but most of the packing is now complete. We are waiting for our passports to be returned from the US embassy then I will believe. It just hasn't sunk in yet.

    to all who follow

How exciting for you, Kay! An early welcome to the US!

Steph, I thought you'd be at work at this hour! We had a disaster drill as well, but our dept was quiet.

Just got home from Jazz class and jam session. Time for a shower and hit the sack!

Goodnight to all, and good morning to all who hit the thread later on! Hope it's a safe, good day. --------- D

Good morning all! Today is a very special day in the UK when all sensible adults and children do something very silly for charity - it's called 'Children In Need' and traditionally a fantastic amount of money is raised annually - my son went to school dressed smartly (one day a year only) my hubby went dressed scruffily and my daughter went to school in fish net stockings.

    see www.bbc.co.uk/childreninneed for more info

Its become quite a tradition here. I on the other hand am curled up on the sofa again - keeping warm as the temperature has dropped again.

See you all again soon, I am off to have another nap.

    Morning everyone,

Making the transition back to nights. Gotta work all weekend, then back on days next week . Sometimes I don't know if I'm coming or going.

Steph: the disaster drills sounded kinda interesting. My nursing school class participated in one in my second year. I was one of the black tags, and I got made up pretty good. Massive head trauma, partial amputation, evisceration. Actual patients in the ER were pretty shocked when they rolled me in the ER .

Morning to all who will come and post later.

    Morning all.

Well, I am wide awake now. I got woke up out of a sound sleep to go rescue hubby. His van puked on the way to work. So, I had to get out from my nice warm blankets and go out into the cold. Then, we had to tow his van back to a parking lot and then I had to take him 12 miles across town to catch a ride with another truck driver. Oh, the things we do for love.

So, after hitting the cold, I am wide awake. Too bad the mall isn't open at 5 in the morning. I could go finish my holiday shopping.

Steph - the disaster drill sounds like fun.

Kay - Welcome to the US

Dianah - Have a wonderful day!

Fonenurse - Stay warm in the UK. It's cold here too. Though the snow has melted from yesterday.

Nurseboy - Sounds like you have some screwy days coming up. Take care of yourself.

Well, I'm going to get something to eat and try to get a few more hours of sleep before I have to go back shopping. (Yeah right, I'll be here probably all morning - you know how addictive this can be!)

    Talk to you all later.

    Have a great morning/afternoon/evening.

    Good morning!

Our ER holds mass casualty/disaster drills, but we don't do anything statewide.

Off to work, after four days off. Gotta work this weekend again, but that's by choice since I needed a day off this week for the concert.

Kay I remember a couple of years ago you talking about coming to the US. What a long process, but it's here. I my only hope is that the reality shock doesn't hurt you too bad when you get here. Good luck.

We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, and if we dont like AZ then there are 49 other states to explore . Tweety I know you'll see me through when reality sets in, what worries me now wont be what actually worries me when I get there, it never is. Meanwhile I am happily shopping on line for furniture at JC Penny :chuckle I need beds and sofas and they are on sale.

5scardiacnurse, god it must have been awful climbing outa bed to go rescue dh

Fonenurse I too am curled on sofa tooooooo cold and I have a chill myself
dinah hope you had a great sleep

Hey, hey, hey, Fun. So, how was the dinner last night? Did ya have fun, Fun?

    Mornin' Siri.

Here's a cut & paste from yesterday's thread about my night. (We ended up having a great time, ty!)

OK, LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY NIGHT!!!

We went to Texas Roadhouse, waited for at least 30 minutes to get seated. There were 10 of us. They tried to sit us all in 2 booths. Then they said, "Yeah, this is how we always do it when we split up a big party." My mom said, "There's room for 8, we have 10 in our party." So, I said, "Let's go to Beto's!" So, we all got up, and walked next door to Beto's.

I guzzled down most of my beer before we left, but dang it, I didn't grab a roll....my two dd's did, though, so I took a bite of one of theirs.

We walked next door, waited for a few minutes (?) and sat all together. It was fun. When we finished the singing crew came over and one of the guys said, "....We won't stop singing until you stop waving this towel."

So, the smart-ellic I am, I let them get 2 or 3 words out of their song, and stopped waving the towel. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THEIR FACES!!! Eventually they all realized that I had stopped waving the towel and stopped singing. lol...then I started waving it again, and they all had to start the song over again.

    It was too funny!
