Just popping back in for a while. Got some errands done. Back home to do some laundry until it's time to get the kids from school. It's kind of overcast here and about 35 degrees.

We have a store in town going out of business so I did some shopping there today. I got my 3 cats some little stuffed mice to play with. My fluffy cat, Elmo, is just about going nuts throwing that little mouse around. The other two don't seem to be too interested in the mice. They are more interested in the noisy balls I bought. It's terrible when I spoil the cats as bad as I do the kids. Oh yeah, the kids got some things too, put away for Valentine's Day.

    Talk to you later.

You're not kidding - however, my boss told me she didn't want me in the office till tomorrow and I have just had a few email and phone queries to deal with today, so it's been good so far! Maybe tomorrow I may feel different - if you don't see me, you'll know why! :uhoh21:

Good morning all! Seems to be speeding by and I really must get offline and start doing some work here. Argh! Need to write my !(&$# self-evaluation for work, too. Painful, I say. Anyway, might as well procrastinate a few more minutes to say hello to you all. Weekend was good here. Saturday ended up going out to dinner with FH's parents and some friends of theirs. The woman friend, who is quite close with the FMIL had a lot of good ideas for us to think about re: the wedding. Plus, she was able to rein in the FMIL on the "But you HAVE to invite [fill-in-the-blank.... usually someone neither FH or I know or have talked to in the past five years]" which is difficult for me to do. That was nice. Then yesterday we went on a drive to go past a couple places we had in mind. Neither of them were what we wanted but as we were on our way home we happened to pass a golf club where we had gone one of the first times we hung out... they've built a totally new facility so we figured while we were there we'd stop by and see what it was like. Turns out we both really liked it and I checked their website this morning and it looks like we might be able to do what we want! We'll just have to check on the date we're thinking of. Very exciting. I'll be so happy to have that part settled! Keep your fingers crossed that we can get the time we want and a reasonable price!
Good luck with the wedding plans. I hated planning my wedding! I swear, I'm just not a girl because I hate to shop for ANTHING, even a wedding...LOL. In fact, I wanted to elope. We only had the church wedding because my husband wanted it and then when I would ask what we should do I got the "I don't care. What ever you want". UGH!!! Hope you have a better time planning than I did...LOL. Oh, try not to let the FMIL interject too much

Oh my gosh, you don't know how happy it makes me to hear that. I was just telling my FH the other day that I am a bad bride because I just can't get all goofy giddy about this stuff. I'm looking forward to being married to him... it's just the GETTING married which doesn't do much for me. I'm hoping to nail down the details soon so we can go back to living regular life!

Hi Arciedee. that "you have to invite ......" sounds familiar around my house too (planning my daughter's wedding). I'm getting fed up and getting ready to give them the money and tell them to elope! Good luck with the rest of your plans and hope they go better than on this end.

Hi Siri...yes thanks, feeling much better. Now just have new headaches. Managed to get through nearly all of my e-mails, but I am so ticked at my units....for gosh sakes....what does checking a suction mean????? I find out today that some of the newbies have just been LOOKING to make sure it was there. Apparently TURNING THE DARN THING ON to make sure it works wasn't part of their education :angryfire:angryfire:angryfire ! (Among other things.....growl, grump, grumble...)

Anna...bliss...wish I could have a facial and the works, too.

Hope everyones day is going well. Time to try and gobble some lunch now I guess. I've got to get to a meeting....time to start rebuilding that callous on my butt ( I swear my butt has gotten larger from sitting at so many meetings on uncomfortable chairs). How the heck am I supposed to get any work done? (Grump, growl, grumble).

Sigh, back to the old grind....gotta love it! :chuckle:chuckle

And Chats, congrats on saying no! I have to practice that.....no, No, NO, nO, N-O!

Congrats on not being a pushover.

I'm glad you like the valentine. I don't know where the energy comes from, but as I was reading my textbook today I had to stop and take a nap. :roll

I can completely relate, S&T. I NEVER assume anything in regards to the level of experience/education. I wrote policies/procedures/protocols for EVERYTHING at the clinic. We are a rural health clinic and must have those PPP for anything that we do. Even how to measure a pulse, for heaven's sake.

I would never assume "check" meant to actually see if the thing was in working order. You should see my PPP on the AED. Sure, one should place an eye on the thing everyday and "check" if it's still in the same place it was the day before, but, if I didn't outline that one must actually touch it (as outlined per manufacturer P and P) .......well............)

    Good luck.

(now, I'm not against newbies at all .........some of the most experienced nurses under my supervision would not go one step out of their way to do anything extra unless there is a PPP for it.):angryfire

You're right, Siri, and it appears its not only our newbies. As part of the documentation for each pt. (it is part of the flow sheet on each chart), each nurse signs off that they have checked O2, suction, airways, etc. for each pt. I just started this job, and was astounded at how many new nurses we have...75-80% are novice. I guess a part of our buddy shift orientation is not being stressed enough....sigh..... back to defining what "Check" actually means!
