Good Morning- Labor Day- Sept. 4th 2006

  1. Good morning everyone. Almost 1am here and I'm still awake. Grrr! I let Dd take her turn at the computer time and all I get is a few minutes to say
'Hi!". I'm off today so I hope I can sleep in. Ds is staying at a friend's house so I've got a bit of a chance to get some extra snooze time in. No plans carved in stone for the day. Gonna play it by ear. My Dd has joined us so if you hear from "Tigersclw", you'll know it's her. Don't tell her any wild stories about me, K? Guess I'll leave the rest of the 'puter time with her and
I hope everyone has a blessed day/evening/night at work, rest or play. TTFN

Probably because I've been catching up on my cricket over the internet.

Growing up, Cricket was akin to "religion". Infact, when there were big matches/games on - streets would be empty during rush hour. Some towns would voluntarily declare a "closed day" - people wouldn't show up for work!

Cricket is a big thing in the sub-continent.

And cricket was a very personal thing for me too. I was good at both cricket and soccer. I played for the school teams.

But some years ago, there was a huge "betting scandal". People were accused (and some proven) to have taken money to play below par performance and cost their teams the match.

I quit following cricket then. That was a personal insult - I used to idolize some of the guys and felt betrayed. And it's been harder since I came to the States - easier to follow Hockey and the NHL.

But a friend sent me this video and since that video I've been watching others like it, listening to old songs and trying to find out if I can spot clips from old movies

Generally been having a nice time, doing stuff "guilt free" for the first time in 4 years...

    Hence the "woot" -

Yeah, Roy, I well remember that time after graduation and taking NCLEX, while waiting for the results (took something like 3 months in those days, via snail mail to hear) and I actually had time to read a magazine, listen to music, read a book that had absolutely nothing to do with nursing and just sit and stare at my belly button if I wanted to. Enjoy it - its a unique time -and once you start working then its back to learning.

Happy Labor Day to everyone. I fully intend to relax and enjoy having the day off.

Compassion, Dianah, Tigersclw (are you a nursing student?), Grace and Leslie - good to 'see' y'all this morning. And "HI" to all who follow. Hope we all have a most wonderful day, whatever it is we have planned. My dd's bf mowed my front lawn yesterday so that is one less thing I need to take care of. Figure the back yard can wait another week, till I'm fully over this dang Noro virus. Sitting here eating my dd's organic, dry roasted, lightly salted cashew nuts and they are sooo good, so guess my G.I. tract is getting back to normal - thank goodness.

Starting to ramble here, so off to have a beer and get some sleep. See y'all later.

    Good Morning!

Leslie, I'm shocked about the Crocodile hunter too. That's awful. We have a stingray season here when they come to the bay and gulf to mate. We're taught to shuffle your feet when you walk in the water, so if you bump them they'll simply move. The one's here don't spontaneously attack unless antagonized or stepped on.

I hope those who are off today have a great Labor Day holiday.

    Morning all!!

Gray and soggy here in the northeast....maybe some sunshine later today? Has been a beautiful weekend....sunny and in the 70's....why I love Maine!!

Sad news from Aussie-land this morning.

Watched Andre's last tennis game yesterday.....have followed him since he was the long-haired rebel of tennis. Was hoping he could pull it off just one more time.

Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day....DH is working today...lol....so I will probably hit some of the sales today!! Time to buy winter clothes
