Good Morning All Nurses Nov 5, 2005

  1. Good Morning to all. I'm happy this early morning knowing that I'll be giving a two weeks notice. I have 6 weeks vacation coming so I'll have a nice break to get myself "unburnt" and be able to enjoy time with my daughter and new grandson Wyatt who will be born Nov 7th about 0800. I will post all the stats to you as soon as I get home. I'm so excited. I've waited for years to become a grandmother. Have a blessed weekend everyone!

I'm kinda jittery. Guess who calls me up Friday night?

MY BUDDY JUST CAME HOME FROM THE SANDBOX!

    *Does happy dance*

Fittingly, we plan on getting absolutely trashed tonight. There's no telling what might happen.

First piece of good news I've had in a while!

Ofcourse, he's with his fmaily now and they plan on going off (Ohio IIRC) soon... but Saturday night, we're hittin' the spots again!

6 weeks vacation for dutchgirl...you will need it for that new grandchild that is about to arrive....make the most of it.

morning suebird or is it goodnight,,,,,take it that 11-7 mean nightshifts?

hi roy I dont envy you on sunday morning or do you have a hangover cure at the ready? sounds like there is some serious reminiscing going to take place as well as some serious drinking, good luck to you!!!!

going to spend all day in bed tomorrow as its my 3 nights on, was glad to get in out the sun today, as it was so hot. I sleep with the hurricane shutters down on the window,so that its nice and dark, and we have a standing fan at the bottom of the bed that keeps me cool all day, that is until we have a powercut which happens frequently here.

Good morning all you earlybirds or late-birds...whatever the case may be.

OK...I gotta do something today...get out of the house away from cleaning and studying which I've been doing the last couple of days. More studying than cleaning though :stone

    Kay---when is the big move???

Mornin' everyone..........and to all who come later: HAVE A BLESSED DAY! It's not even 0800 hour, and I've been awake for at least an hour. The kids are rising from their slumbers for breakfast, and the two year old is gazing at some show called "Doodlebops". :uhoh21: Doodle who???? My dd says she loves the show, so.....doodle onward.

My 11 year old grandson is still hospitalized. He is improving. The docs found an impression near his esophagus, did a barium swallow, and discovered he has a right aortic arch touching his esophagus everso lightly. As he grows, he will be watched for any breathing difficulties, but for now they are going to just continue monitoring the area. It's one of those anamolies that was never caught until now. Normally is asymptomatic as long as no breathing difficculties begin from the arch rubbing up against the esophagus. Think I'll post this on the cardio forum later today and ask those good nurses if they've ever come across anything like this in their practice because apparently it is everso rare. I've worked cardio before, and never once heard of anything like this. My grandson is an asthmatic anyway, which is what landed him in the hospital in the first place. Poor baby.

The other three kids are handling their winter bug much better today...still have snotty noses and coughing on occasion. The six year old is to be checked on Monday to make sure her pneumonia is clearing up. She was dx with "center lobe pneumonia" two days ago, but looks like the picture of health to me. Haven't heard her cough yet, no gunky nose, bright eyed and gorgeous as usual, hyper from the drugs they put her on, etc. Hmmmm....:uhoh21: I'll listen to her lungs with my steth in a little bit per dd's request. I'm still hacking up junk myself and blowing the trumpet, so we're very thankful for all prayers spoken on our behalf. :icon_hug:

Dutchgirl...enjoy your six weeks off! Wow! What on earth will you do with yourself all?

Roy Fokker.....PLEASE stay safe, and whatever you and your friend do...do NOT drive drunk or crazy.

Well...hate to end my session with ya'll right now, but dd is getting ready to leave for the hospital soon, and I need to jump in the shower before she goes. Once she leaves, my focus will be on the three mighty mights who are busy, busy, busy....need to have my skates on, eyeglasses handy, both eyes focused on their journeys throughout the house to keep them out of things they shouldn't be into and so forth. You who have toddlers know full well what I'm dealing with here. They are not too sick to be busy little beavers, that's for sure.

Siri dahlin'..........Thank you for posting my prayer request the other day. It is the 6 yr. old with pneumonia, not the 11 yr old though. He was admitted for a severe asthmatic episode. The impression showed up on his xray, then a barium swallow was ordered. That's when the anamoly of the right aortic arch was discovered. When it rains it pours doesn't it.

    Good morning, everyone!

I actually awoke at a decent hour today; seems lately, my weekends have been for sleeping in, and then doing a mad dash the rest of the day playing catch-up with my schoolwork. It feels good to be up and ready to go. And it's beautiful outside, too. It was over 50 degrees this morning, and the weather person is telling me that it's going to hit 70. I can live with that for a while!

I have some shopping to do for some school supplies. I need a bulletin board (or something similar) for the mountain of papers that continue to be accumulated that can't be put anywhere else. A couple of packs of index cards. Yet more highlighters, pencils and pens. A young woman in my clinical group has a small, notebook that fits into her uniform pocket full of at-your-fingertips nursing data that I think looks really helpful. She recommends it, and said she found it at Barnes and Nobel, so I'll head over there to see if I can locate one.

I haven't mentioned a lot lately about the work on the house; the partner had been ill for a good week and a half, then we had company for several days, and I've been out of the loop with my school stuff. The kitchen is finally done. There had been some issues with minor wall damage, but those are resolved and the room looks great. We're going out this afternoon to find a buffet table with open shelves for the new long wall we created when we closed in the stairway. I'll probably come home with a pair of shoes or something!

Not much else is happening. I hope you all have a wonderful day at work or play or somewhere in between. Hey, Kat should be in Hawaii now, right? You all be well and be blessed.

    Peace.
