    Morning everyone!

Much quieter here with no hospital just up the street (like where I used to live). Almost found it too quiet to fall asleep!

Busy day for me, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Hope everything is going well for everyone here!

A very Good Morning to you all,

I have been enjoying this Fall weather. Have winterized the garden beds. Planted 40 plus Daffodils for Spring.

I actually rested up a fair bit which is amazing in itself for me!! Watched some movies on Saturday. Watched an oldie called Step Mom which was sooooo sad I cried like a baby. I think it was off a true story!

Am ready for another busy week in the mobile office LOL

What ever you are up too have a beaut day and please stay safe.

To those who remain under the weather I send you warmest get well wishes.

Morning all! A beautiful fall morning here. Finally a day off but part of the a.m. will be at the dentist's office.

Rough night last night at work. One pt I was caring for suddenly started vomiting....thought it was just an upset stomach until she starting complaining of feeling dizzy and vision blurred. Diaphoretic, vomiting, now complaining of chest pain..house officer called stat, blood drawn, stat EKG (nice time to find out that our EKG machine was missing a lead!!! :angryfire BP rising..the whole works. Pt transferred to ICU for observation, CT of head was negative, bloodwork at the time was negative but more cardiac enzymes were being drawn this a.m. History of Afib, CAD. Daughter tells us she was in a nursing home and in stages of withdrawal from her drugs she was on there.

I've been nursing for a bit over a year and haven't had too many emergency situations but my hands were shaking during IV pushes and stuff and I feel really lousy.....was there something I missed, etc. etc. And had to depend on another RN and charge as doctor was spewing out orders to get the orders faxed to pharmacy so they can put it in the Pyxis for us to remove. I feel like I know so little and I'm very very sad and feeling really incompetent.

Oh dear - don't feel that way. Emergencies, even for the more experienced nurses can make you feel like that. I remember that feeling and I remember questioning everything later.

Just remember that everything that happened will have an impact on how you react the next time something like this happens.

    Good morning everyone!

I had a very relaxing weekend and now it's time to do some work. Problem is, the house (and my office!!) could use a good tidy and it's hard to work when the mess is annoying me. Guess I'll be spending my "coffee break" tidying.

I'm trying a new recipe for supper tonight, a chicken and taco type slow cooker meal. We'll have to see if it's good. I sure hope so.

    Have a great day everyone!

Suzy, Marijke is right. When all that confusion and adrenalin hits, you need backup. Anyone would. You did fine. (((((((hugs)))))))

Good morning everyone. I hope you all have a great one.

Suzy: Hang in there!! As a nurse you will encounter your share of emergencies. Calm yourself down now that it is over and, without self judgement, review exactly what you remember of the incident. What did you do that you know was right? What did you do that you might have improved on? No, don't get mad at yourself! Just keep all this in mind for the next time and go on from there. If you allow this to affect you negatively it will be even harder to deal with the next one. You will have "trained" yourself to fall apart, so to speak. I don't have much hospital experience but I do have two kids who are accident prone. Believe it or not, I have trained myself to "shutdown" when something happens to them then I proceed to fall apart after. LOL This is the only way I could deal with some of the serious injuries they have sustained. And, now, I will sign off. This was more long-winded than I expected. Good luck.

Short post, but I guess it is still early. Quiet weekend. Didn't do much. May be moving (again) this week. Hopefully soon. Will need to find someone with a truck to move mattresses but don't have a lot of stuff to move. This will be great. Got a job last week, moving this week----things are starting to look up. ( For those of you who don't know...I walked out on my dh in April. It has been a rather rough few months since then.) I plan on getting a computer soon. I was figuring up how much I will make a month, how much my current bills will be, how much I will pay in tithes and put away for savings....and there seems to be a lot of money left at the end of the month. How is that? I haven't worked all that much over the last year and a half--between one thing and another--and I am not used to having any money. I already know that I will have to be very careful and not squander what I have. Before dh left state he sold, took or gave away almost everything in the house besides my clothes and books (and some other personal stuff of mine.) I have a lot of replacing to do. It is almost like starting over (well, in a way, it is.) I keep thinking..I need a colander, knives, potatoe peeler. It is almost humerous. The small things you get used to having and suddenly don't have. Of course, a tv will be one of the first items we buy. We haven't had one since I left him. Nyway, not much going on here so will sign off. Will try to get on later. Have a blessed day. Donna
