Good Friday Morning 03/18/05

  1. Beginning the first of three 12s in the am. It has been nice being off so many days this for 4, then worked one, then off for 2, except had to go in for two hour meeting this am. Love this schedule. Usually alternate between three one week, and four the next. Can work extra whenever I desire. Not bad..............and especially since they are predicting rain for the next three. That definitely bests the snow anytime in my book.

Spoke to my friend Bobbi tonight, the one in Maine, she said that snow is piled 10 feet high in front of her home where they cleared the roads. Can't even imagine what that would be like. And I hope that I never have to be in it at all...............

Hi Grace and Suzanne, and everyone else!

Suzanne, Victorville is in the "high desert;" you might do a google or yahoo search for desert wildflowers viewing. We sometimes go thru Victorville area on our way up north from San Bernardino area (so we don't have to go thru LA!): up 215, then across the high desert area and drop down onto the 99 or the 5 just around Bakersfield. Can't remember the highways off the top of my head tho'.

We were busy today!! Stayed 2 hr OT just to finish. Got to go to the Palm class, though, which was good. Tomorrow should be busy too, so better get to bed.

Any post-Paddy's day hangovers??? The tech and other RN were joking all day about going out for green beer (which, they said, doesn't taste very good). How about corned beef and cabbage, anyone indulge?? THAT sounds good!

Hope everyone has a good nite, followed by a good day!

Good morning to one and all. I am unable to sleep, too much circling the outter part of my mind. We have had another death in the family, so I will have a busy next few days. No, it was not unexpected but then who can really ever be completely prepared ? I hope everyone has a good day, more importantly, I hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Mornin' everyone!

My second and last child is going for her permit today! You know, my mother-in-law had 10 children (strict Irish catholic gal she is) and I couldn't even imagine doing the permit-license thing that many times. Ativan would be my one and only friend.

    Have a great weekend!

My 3rd child is doing the same thing next week. And I have a three year old too.

I've been through it twice with my boys who are 22 and 20. The 20 year old has been in 4 accidents.

    I haven't tried Ativan . . . . maybe I should talk to my doc.

I can't sleep - even tried folding socks from a huge pile that overflows the laundry basket.

Dianah - we had corned beef, cabbage, carrot and potatoes. I haven't made it in a long time. It was good.

Back to bed - Happy Friday!

Good morning, dear friends. I over-did 2 days ago when I posted so much. I wore myself out sooo much I slept all afternoon, all night, all day yesterday, and all night last night with nooo problem. Now that's what I call pooped! I must pace myself a little more carefully.

Suzanne, it sounds like you have the ideal job. And I remember winters like what your friend described. I'm sooo glad I don't live in them Catskill Mountains of New York anymore. There were times when I drove across our resivoir with my school bus when the snow on the sides of the road was piled higher than the bus. And I drove a 66 passenger bus. Oh yeah, and I have a nephew who lives in Maine. I never hear from him though.

Hi there, Grace. I don't believe we've ever met. I love Aussies. Welcome to the daily thread.

Hi dianah. They make green beer here where I live too. The college students love it. And I love corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and baby carrots mixed in with them. They're delicious. Now that you put the suggestion in my head, I think I just might send someone out after some to make for me.

Hi barefootlady. I'm sorry to hear of the unexpected heavies in your family lately. Even when they are expected though, it's hard.

Hi there night owl, I don't believe we've met yet. It's always nice to meet another new person. I was driving the roads when I was 14, but it was after dark though. I have always loved to drive. I remember when I was a child, I had dreamed of being a cab driver when I grew up. I got much more than being a cab driver. I drove school bus for 15 years, and during the summer and after hours I drove charter service, sports trips, and field trips. The last 3 years were the most challenging though; take it from one who knows; there definitely was a whole different generation of kids riding the school buses back then. They got so they had no respect, didn't listen, etc. So I became a nurse.

Happy Friday to you too, Steph. Your son is getting cuter and cuter. I looked at your photos.

For everyone else to come later, in case I don't get back here, I hope you have a good Friday, and an even better weekend.

    ciao to all!

Barefootlady, my condolences. Hope you find peace and rest soon.

    Mary Ann, get well soon.

Good morning! I came to the internet cafe to log on to my course and can't find the addy. It's a long detailed addy so it's no use. I can live without logging in, but they were going to post my test Sunday or even Saturday and I would like to print out a copy.

Having a great time here in Miami beach. A cold front moved through and delivered some rain last night. But it's beautiful sunny and a cool (cool meaning in the low 70s). So really, though this trip is all about the food. Had an awesome Argentinian steak last night, was heaven. Hope to go to a Brazilian place tonight. Maybe have some Cuban too. Went shopping yesterday in South Beach, but it rained and we cut it short. Hope to go back tomorrow.

Got to do some homework today, for about an hour. Then relax some. I'm feeling much more rested today.

    Morning everyone!
Last day off of my Spring Break ! Oh well, time to hit the grind again. Had so many plans for htis week, and not one came through! All I did was piddle around and not do too much of anything....
I need to go to the Post Office today and mail out Amanda's mail that has accumulated here since she left. I've been promising her, just haven't done it yet!
The assessment thing went ok yesterday, even the kids that were brought were good, so I can't complain. But like I said, no one had questions prepared nor had read the I figured. One girl says she's going to quit cause it's too much on her. She has a 7 month old baby and lives with her parents! But oh well....She says she's going to quit all the time anyway. She has 3 unsatisfactory papers that she has to redo, and hasn't done any of them....maybe she should quit. The pressures in nursing school are bad, but imagine her being in the real's scary. Maybe she can try again in a few years.
Tweedles~ Have a good time in Miami :biere: !
Hi to both Marys~ Feel better soon!
Steph~ I have one of those sock baskets too...I hate that thing! LOL!
Franners~ Hello, my lovely! Glad to see you on, even if it is for a bit. Take care of yourself now, ya hear? :kiss
niteowl~ I have a 16 y/o son who would like his permit, but is content right now with his girlfriend toting him around! LOL!
Barefootlady~ Bless your family and my condolences.
Morning to dianah and Grace! Grace, how awesome to live in Australia...I would love to visit there someday!
Hello suzanne~ Aren't we thankful we don't have all that horrid snow anymore? I can't fathom having to live with it as long as places like Maine and New York (and pardon me...I do believe Rusty is still buried too!) :Snow:

Love you guys and have a great day!

Good day all! Although I cruise this particular thread regularly, I have only posted once. I sort of felt I was an interloper in some family reunion! But just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your posts, almost like I know most of you. It gives me great satisfaction knowing that these wonderful, sympathetic, empathetic, humourous people share the same profession as I. And Fran, I must say that I always love your down to earth common sense, and your pics here are great! Hope you feel better soon. To everyone, thanks for letting me share your daily lives! (Makes me sound like a peeping Tom!)
