Good Friday Morning 9 July 2004

  1. Public schools are all closed in Bangkok next week due to the International Aids Conference so that traffic will flow smoothly. Guess the kids are excited about that.

Another proivnce has bird flu. but they think very limited.
Made a large batch of chicken soup last night to hold me over, if necessary.
But this shoudl not affect the big poultry farms in this area.

Kaffir limes are ridiculously cheap right now, 5 for about $0.10. I am in 7th Heaven with that as I can now have as many lime drinks per day as I want.
Just about two months ago, they were almost $0.50 for the 5. Fresh from the farm produce is available on a daily basis, a handful of baby asparagus for about $0.25 for the bunch, cucumbers picked fresh the evening before.
You can stop at little produce stands and pick up what ever you want on the way home from work. Super, super fresh................

Have a great early morning for those of you that are at work, or are already up for the day, or that live on this side of the world..........................

Good Morning Suzanne and everyone else! It's 01:59 am here and my night shift is on the downhill stretch.
I too love fresh farm produce. Our hospital auxillary farmer's market starts today, lots of fresh veggies and baked goods, yum! It will be a while before my garden goodies are ready, (corn is only a foot high yet..)
Hope everyone has a good day, here's a question of the day (since Suzanne loves her limes...) What is your favorite fresh item you like to buy at a summer market? Mine is a tough cross between strawberries and fresh off the vine tomatoes.... Ruthie

    good morning everyone!
answer to question of the day....my fav item to buy?
    probably green beans or strawberries.
don't get to often, cause i'm asleep by the time farmer's market rolls into town on saturday (i work 12's on friday nights.) and hubby complains about going, complains about spending his money (wants my checkbook) and complains if he has to take the kids...so it's easier if i don't ask.

today is promising to be a beautiful day here in indiana. i hear the birds up and singing already and the rooster is crowing his head off all ready!
the breeze is a little cool, but acceptable. it rained a few drops this am, but nothing to stop the day!
i am going to go hop in the shower and then have a cup of coffee and get going. i have some errands to run today and don't want to be rushed after the kids get up!
hope everyone has a grand and lovely day!

    Good morning Ruthie..................

In answer to your question, when I was still living in the states, I loved the fresh cantelope and blueberries, especially since it was Michigan.

That is what is so nice about being over here, fresh produce daily and all year. About 7 types of fresh spinach at the supermarkets, too many types of peppers ( of course, I still don't like the chilis in anything).
Interesting enough, most of the carrots are imported from Australia, the cheeses actually come from Switzerland, fabulous Swiss cheese over here, my favorite in cheeses..................the one that I always purchase has the best flavor, perfect in grilled cheese, with eggs, or just by itself.

Made fresh pesto the other day, basil is so ridiculously cheap, a huge bunch for about $0.10. Didn't want to use up what I grow myself, and made the best pesto with some pine nuts that were brought over for me. Put it over spinach linguine, and ???????????????? yummy, even the puppies ate it.
Made up a container for the frig and another that I froze.....

    Good Morning !

Yeppers, a lovely day in store for us here as well... the birds are singing their little hearts out, I'm on my second cup of coffee..(first was spent on the front porch with dh).. and now I've sent him to town to pick up a few things I forgot yesterday and to fill up my car with gas, so I'll have no delays getting to that river tomorrow !

Going to do my workout now before the sun gets too warm and while the night's coolness still lingers in the house. Then do some vacuming and dusting, clean the bathroom, and after that the day is MINE ALL MINE !!!

    Good morning everyone!

another one registering a lovely day here. Have the ac still on from yesterday/last night as it was so humid but will pop outside to pick up the newspaper and check the weather. News says it is much less humid and the sun is shining so hopefully everything is drying out.

will be studying today for my anat/phys midterm exam which will be next week. this is online course but have to take the midterm at local community college. I kinda put this one on the back burner when I was taking micro and sociology which was good for micro but not so good for anat/phys. already took anatomy and passed--it's the phys I have to make up but there are things on this course that we didn't have to study for anatomy and guess what....I'm beginninng to freak out! Oh well...gotta do what you gotta do. thought I would have some free time to myself this summer to take a break before going back to school the end of august but I guess not. :stone

    have a great day everyone!!!

Suzanne thank you for giving us some more of Thailand to dream about. Aaaaah! If only the prices were that low here. How high is the rent there? I( pay $500. a month for a 1 bedroom apt with everything including cable. The only thing extra I have to pay is my telephone
