Good Afternoon..Saturday May 30th

  1. Hey guys....how is your weekend going? thought I would start this lovely general thread and see what everyone is up to.

We are hanging out at home. Oldest son is off at the kids museum with friends so it's just us and the younger ones. I think i might have a pot luck on monday for the folks in my community. We haven't done this in a while it just can be a bit intimdating to host with all our crazy kids and chaos. I am so ready for some good food, great company, drumming and lots of laughter.

I went and saw Supersize last night. If you get a chance to check it out I highly recommend it. If you haven't heard of it, it's a documentary about a guy in NY who goes on a McDonalds only diet for 30 days. Anything he ingests MUST come from McD's - even water. He gains weight, his liver starts to crash after 21 days and becomes addicted to the cycle of simple carbs and fat creating mood swings and depression. It's thought provoking- more than a little frightening and an eye opener about the state of childrens health in our country ie: obesity and diabetes. one of the things I came away with is the fact that based on current trends, children born after the year 2000 have a 1 in 3 chance of developing type 2 diabetes. Man.

It's a big ride but well edited and entertaining - ala michael moore.

Hope you all are having fun whatever your doing.....

    XXOO Kate

    Hi Guys ~

Just now finding time to see how everyone is... spent the evening yesterday after work making a photo CD of the wedding pics I took for Jessie and John... then copied all my picture files from my computer space to Snapfish albums (thanx to Tweety!) .... free up my pooter space! Hey, Tweets... how many albums do they let you store there?

So I've been on the pooter, just not online much. Very timeconsuming.. but fun.

OK.. today I worked 'til about 1030 am, then came home and vacumed out the car (hadn't gotten to that yet after our trip, needed it badly!)... then threw in a couple loads of wash and hung them out... swept off the front porch.. and went out to the garden and hoed for about an hour (yep, DH say I'm a good little hoer!)

Then fiddled around some more with the photos, albums, etc.

Jess and John are coming down tomorrow with the professional album made at the wedding... can't wait to see them AND the pics ! Haven't really talked with them since the wedding... they've been busy at work, buying a new car (John's blew the engine, and Jessie's old Nissan Sentra is pushing 300 K miles).

So they were in need of a good car, as Jess travels an hour to work each day on the interstate. So they've been plenty busy... and I'm chomping at the bit to check in with them !

Hope everyone's doing well... Kim, sell LOTS of stuff, my Friend ! Let us know how you made out.

Tweets, I still haven't gone to the doggie pic link yet... going to find it now !

    Later guys !

ok Tweety.. found Ellie ! She's a LOVELY puppers !!! She and Sir Caesar look soooooooo good together ! They'll be best od friends in due time.. you wait and see ! (((HUGS))) Beautiful dogs, truly.

We have beautiful weather today! Supervised a carwash this morning with a bunch of teenaged girls! Had lots of fun!

My plan was to come home and make freezer jam with the strawberries I got the other day. I discovered that I need to replace the lids on the jars I was going to use. So I'll wait until tomorrow. I really don't want to go back to town again. I may try to make a strawberry pie, my mil gave me a recipe.

We have a wedding reception to go to tonight. Tomorrow, I plan to get the kids going on 4-H projects. Monday, we have two graduations to go to! I'll need to go back to work to rest up!!

Hi all. I've been following the thread daily but just haven't posted in awhile.
Jnette, glad to read you had a great time at the wedding, and am looking forward to pics!
This will hopefully be a lazy day for us. We did our requisite music this a.m. (the kids all sang well, as usual!), then to lunch with friend. Now we're home, dh is trying something out on the keyboard (midi stuff), oldest son is playing Diamond Mine on one puter (it's a fun, mindless game), and youngest just went over to the park to hit some balls and talk w/friends on the phone (it's a privacy thing . . .). Oldest son was at the beach w/class all afternoon yesterday, got home @ 9:30, and to bed around 10:30, so he's kinda tired today. Maybe I'll go visit a friend today; I need to deliver five boxes of books to her, ones I culled from the kids' room (ones they haven't read in years). Gotta get them out of the hall!!
I got to see a friend's current project: he's feeding two baby hummingbirds whose mama was taken out by a neighborhood cat. The little ones huddled together in their nest (made of spider webs, BTW!), gently peeped when they heard any noises, and were just SOOOO ADORABLE!! He feeds them a glucose mix with a 3cc syringe and an angiocath -- just dribbles a little into their open mouths, until the crop is full. They seemed to be doing well, I hope they continue to thrive till he can release them. Did I say how ABSOLUTELY CUTE they were???!!! <sigh> just too cute . . .
DH wants to go to the Southwest Bluegrass Association's annual campout nearby, for a little bit on Sun. We stopped by the campground Thurs. nite, so he could jam a little. It wasn't too cold, and he really enjoyed it. So, maybe we'll go again on Sun.
I want to go to the Renaissance Faire again, on Mon. I invited a friend, and have half-price tickets for this, the very last day of the faire. I figger to get there right at opening time, and if the crowds get too much, I'll just leave. I just wanted a chance to look around without kids, KWIM?
It's been really nice here, slightly overcast most of the morning, and warming to the 70's and 80's, with a few clouds during the day. THIS I can handle, and prefer, cf over 100 degrees when summer finally hits!
phn2, that strawberry pie sounds great! One of my faves is to eat the strawberries with angel food cake and whipped cream. And when I have no angel food cake, I love to dip the strawberries in the whipped cream and eat 'em!! MMMMMMmmmmmm!
Best to you all! I look forward to hearing about your antics -- you've certainly suffered through hearing about enough of MY routine days!!
    Peace to all ------ D

    Good afternoon!

    Thanks jnette.

Jnette, you might be confusing me with someone else, I use Sony's site, imagestation. I'm not sure how many albums they let you store. But putting them on a CDR disc is an excellent way to free up your space.

Oooooooooooops !!! That's RIGHT ! You DO use imagestation ! :imbar Heh.

Yes, I have an account there, too, but haven't used it for storage yet.. I've been using the snapfish site.. they're great, too.

And yes, I burn all my photo folders/albums to RWCD's. A must.

Hey guys! I looked for a thread this morning, but didn't see one, and I didn't have time to actually start one! Oh well...

I went to the college and took the entrance test again, hoping for that one point. I'll know on Tuesday whether or not I got it. If so, yeah for me, if not, oh well!

DH worked on my car today and actually fixed it! I laughed at him when he came home b/c he told me that it has so much power now I'd better be careful or I'd hurt myself! :chuckle I have to admit, it did sound much better. I suppose he wanted to try to help me out today so he cooked on the grill for dinner. We invited some friends over, and everyone had a good time.

Everyone is gone for now. Jas took Dylan with him to help his sister move. I opted for a bit of puter time before I start cleaning up around here. School starts on Tuesday, so I figure I need to get everything organized!

Hope everyone is having a good time on this holiday weekend!
