going insane

  1. I had a back injury in september and have been off work since then. I have done everything I was told to do i.e. no lifting, no driving, no long walks, no sex, and no bending. I have read till I can't focus anymore, watched more TV than is good, played on the computer till my eyes cross:uhoh21:, and slept enough to last several months:spin:.

    Any suggestions?

you need something to occupy your brain, like a hobby. Can you sew or do modeling or needlework or woodwork?? Christmas is nearly here. Maybe you can create gifts from the heart this year.

That's how I started dating my wife. She was coming back to work from breaking her coccyx. Maybe something good will come out of this. But I agree with the hobby thing.

My husband and kids are telling me I am driving them insane. I am basically home bound due to not being able to tolerate long drives. thanks for the suggestions.

Are there some nearby churches that you can contact?...maybe they would appreciate some assist putting packets together, organizing a Christmas drive, assist in hand crafts which could be later handed out to the elderly at ECFs, et cetera. Just an idea.

Bless your heart I am sure it is not easy for you.
How much longer before you are going to be allowed back to work?
Now I would do as I was told by the dr but no sex!! Shhhhh how ARE they going to know
Sorry short lapse in being good there!
Do you write to friends or family? Receiving hand written letters these days are a rarity.
Maybe you could write some nursing related stories or articles to magazines etc?

    What hobbies do you have?

Are you able to walk around where you live? Walking is a good way to strengthen those back muscles too.

I am sorry you are sending the family insane.

Organize your photos into albums or scrapbooks? Organize your recipes into a cookbook? Call old friends (email is great, but nothing beats the real thing)? Learn a new hobby; needlepoint, quilting, knitting/crocheting, calligraphy? Start/maintain a journal?
