I was injured on the job in May 2000...i had just returned after having a second scope done on my knee. I worked on an ortho floor, with med/surg overflow. Starting my shift, i went to check on a fresh postop who had some major belly surgery...drains, colostomy, NGT, O2...you name it he had it....the lines were all tied up....the ngt wasn't working....the phone cord was even tied in the tangled mess...so i turned around to leave to get a new canister set up, and down i went...flew across the room...blowing my knee apart....ended up needing a TKR. So, long story short, settled my workers comp claim, and want to get back into nursing to some degree, and i've been hearing that it is hard, if not almost impossible to get back into nursing once you've been injured on the job.
Has anyone out there heard stories of this? I haven't begun my search yet, but if this is true, i would like to be aware ahead of time. Sounds like that would fall under discrimination, but who knows these days. Any help or info wuyld be greatly appreciated!!
