God named in lawsuit

  1. State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha sued God last week, seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty for making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

As an Omaha resident, let me say that this doesn't surprise anyone around here.

Earnie Chambers is a long-time State Senator who has squandered his tenure in the Nebraska Legislature by staging all kinds of stunts to call attention to himself without doing squat to actually improve the situation of his constituents who are largely under-privileged African Americans living in a dangerous part of our city.

With newly-imposed term limits, Chambers needs a new venue for his self promotion. I guess he has found it. At taxpayers' expense.

When I first heard about this story (and rolled my eyes, along with my dh) it reminded me of that scene in Forrest Gump...when they're out on the boat in the middle of the storm, and Lt. Dan launches into a tirade against God, ending it with "I'm here! Where are You?!"

Forrest says, "Just then, Gawd showed up."

Wouldn't be surprised if God shows up.

    I wouldn't be "surprised" either.

He'd be better of if he'd asked to be 'struck by lightning'

I betting (or should I say, praying) that God has a sense of humor about this. Just maybe he will send St. Michael to be his prime witness like the response suggested-really would love to see that one.
