Get Your Sexy Back-Month 1

  1. Hi gang!! Time to weigh in and get your measurements recorded. Everyone can share what they are comfortable with here. My weight will not be public record. Please keep a log at home with your initial BMI, initial weight, and initial measurements. We all know there is more than one way to get fit and healthy and this will keep us all on track!! :spin:

I will be posting one official thread on the 1st of each month. If anyone wants a weekly thread opened as well to track their progress pls just post the request here and I will be more than happy to oblige. I will also start up a whole new challenge in January 2008 for those of us that will take a bit longer to reach our goals. And of course anyone can join up at any time. The more the merrier!!

Nine months is a long time and many will reach their goals. Others of us will hopefully be half there at that time. We will get our health back on track!! We will be a fine example to our patients!! GO TEAM!!

    Hey Batman,
I think waiting a month is too long, just my opinion.
I have just come off a huge self destructive binge and now have more weight to lose.
Look forward to seeing everyone here.
    Good Luck Everyone

Ok, I started yesterday as planned. Thought I would have trouble with leaving sweets alone (I have a huge sweet tooth), but found that sugar free popsicles are working well. My BMI is 43! :uhoh21: But, it won't be that for long!!

Hope everyone else is doing well. You're all in my thoughts.

I started yesterday too. I weighed myself yesterday morning, yikes! Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone luck. Hey arthursmom, I have a huge sweet tooth too. I asked on the other thread if they had tips to help with cravings. Someone suggested trying the low fat version of whatever I'm craving. I thought "yuck!" So, I ran to the store after they replied this am and bought a box of the Healthy Choice fudge bars. They're pretty good. You might like those too.

That was me!! I am glad you found something that you like. If you want something salty take low fat sour cream (not no fat as it is horrid!!) and put in a bit of Liptons onion or veggie mix with it. Stir in a bowl and veggies or pretzels never tasted so good!!

Oh yeah...100 calorie packs are awesome for cravings. They have everything from Wheat Thins to these little flat Oreos. Both are fab.

OK, I'm here to check in. I'm less than pleased with where I'm starting, but at least I'm starting (again). I've got to quit stress eating!! I'm going to go back to journalling everything I eat and all exercise and see if I can't get back on track.

I will also work hard to keep my goals attainable. I've always tended to aim dramatically, setting myself up for disappointment and failure when I don't achieve my set goal. For now I'll say 5lb/month. I'd like to lose more, but that would have me 50 lbs down by my 40th birthday which is nothing to be ashamed of. I'd like to lose more like 85 lbs by then which is closer to 2 lbs/week, but that would be pretty hard to maintain for that long.

Goal for this month: -5 lbs
    Current BMI 44.5

I think I will be checking on my status weekly also, at least for now. I can't afford to slip off track, so a weekly analysis will help keep me from wandering too far afield.

Get out! I went to the store to get veggies and dip, and something to help with the sweet cravings. I bought fat free sour cream and Hidden Valley Ranch mix. I agree with you, fat free sour cream is gross. I'm hoping it won't be so bad once I mix it all up. I'll definitely have to try those 100 calorie packs . Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the tip about Healthy Choice fudge bars. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a sweet tooth. I agree about low fat and fat free...yuck!

I have a question....the second ingredient in my sugar free popsicles is maltodextrin...isn't that a sugar? I am a diabetic and am wondering if it will hurt me in the long run. Maltodextrin is also in Splenda packets, and in the Crystal Light packets that I add to bottles of water.

I'm so thankful that I have you all to go through this with! :spin:

I cheated. I started last Tuesday doing the fat smash--and admittedly I've had a small cheat here and there on it. One made me really sick! I had bacon in a salad...was not a pleasant evening for me but anyway....

    Since Tuesday....
    BMI 34.5 today's BMI 33.4
    Weight 195.8 today, 188.6
7.2lbs to date, 63.6 to reach my desirable weight for my height. It's where I've felt most comfortable. Granted I realize my weight to this point is all water weight, but it's nice to see the scales coming down! LOL

Good luck to everyone! I'm so loving this thread. Even if I did decide to post my weight. UGH. Oh well--Keep me accountable you pre/current nurses!

The fat smash diet is a 4 phase diet most famous from Celebrity Fit Club on VH1. Dr. Ian Smith, the dr on the show, created an eating plan that lasts for 90 days--and at the end you will have learned how to eat right and get in your exercise. The first phase is the hardest--its the detox phase. Mostly fruit and veggies--nothing white though. (no white potatoes). You can have oats and brown rice....he has a book for sale all about the diet at Walmart for $10.97. You can also find out more by going to www.fatsmashdiet.com and www.fatsmashforum.com I like the forum cause it has great recipe ideas--cause just eating the fruit and veggies gets a little old. The banana ice cream on there is great. So far, it's been quite easy and I've lost more in 1 week with this diet than I did with 1 week of weight watchers. I like it but it does have it's moments--but that's with any "eating change."
