  2. Hi all! Have a new member of the family, he is a 7 5/7 week old german shepherd puppy. I will try to post a pic, if I can figure out how.

Have a few questions for any of you familar with the breed.

    1. When do their eyes change colors? His are still a milky blue.

    2. What age do their "real colors" fully come out?

    3. If I can get pic to post, What color do you think he is?

Hi.. Just wanted to say what a beautiful Shepherd. His colors are gorgeous. Hard to tell how their coat pattern will be when they grow up, but I'm sure he is gonna be beautiful.

He's beautiful! I'm no expert but it looks like he'll have the "standard" GSD colors.

My GSD had her brown eyes when I got her at 4 months old. She's a nonstandard color as she is a "white" GSD which means she is actually a cream color--she has no brown or black whatsoever in her coat. The whites are not an AKC acceptable color (there are breeders who put them down at birth because of this -- in an attempt to keep the breed free of the white color).

I just *love* my shepherd; what a wonderful dog she is! She's gentle and very nonaggressive but quite big (90 pounds) and intimidating looking with a ferocious bark and no bite. On the down side -- there is hair everywhere! GSDs have so much hair!!! I hope you have a great vacuum cleaner!

Enjoy your puppy! What did you name him?

He's beautiful and he looks very similar to mine when he was that age. Mine is now 2 ys and 4 months. His eyes turned around 3 months to dark brown, his coat changed around 18months. He's still mosty black, with black face, back, hips, chest and tail with a tan tummy and legs. Mine is as sweet as all get out but dumber than a box of rocks. Too much inbreeding, I guess. Overall, they're a very gentle breed, good with kids and fiercly loyal. I love my big dummy!!! He's my cuddlepup. Best of luck with your new baby!!

Forgot to add, they can be extremely hyperactive and don't outgrow puppyhood until they're just about 2 if not longer and they chew and chew and chew. My shepherd chewed thru his metal barred large crate in less than 30 minutes and had proceded to tear thru several couch cushions, all while I was in the shower!! Hope you have a big back yard!!:angryfire

HA HA HA speaking of vacuum cleaners and chewing the little stinker chewed the cord of my BRAND NEW vacuum into three pieces, luckily it wasn't plugged in.

And about yorkies, My mom has yorkies (one is 7yr and a brand new pup) and I just rescued her another one which she will get as soon as we can get it healthy enough to travel. And the german shepherd is about 3 times as big as them.

His name is Cedric (after a harry potter character). We also have a 7 month old cocker spaniel, his name is Zeke, was gonna attach pics of all of them but cant because pics are too big and I cant figure out how to resize them (my mom emailed them to me) but as soon as I figure it out I'll try to get them posted.

This is the yorkie I rescued he is severely malnourished and anemic and has a congenital defect in his knees, he has been so abused but is the sweetest little guy.
