G'day Sunday 20th November, 2005!

  1. Greetings all it's sunday afternoon here in Oz, so thought I'd get the greetings up and running for today! I realise many are still sleeping, or working nights, or other pursuits at this time. So, when yuo get around to reading this..... G'day! Hope all is well in your world! :kiss

I've been absent, again! Have been ill with some 'bug', which triggered off the asthma and so it's been a most dreadful four weeks for me. It's been most unstable and just when I thought I was up and running again ... I quickly regressed.
I guess the positive thing to come from this has been that I'm now taking the asthma much more seriously and becoming more pro-active in the management of it. As I said to the GP yesterday, for someone who's been a nurse for .. well, ever!, I've been extremely blase when it's come to my own health condition! :uhoh21: Most Aussies are fairly laid back characters, and we do tend to underplay things as opposed to overstate. However, when it comes to things such as asthma and such, one cannot afford to be so underestimating! So, ok, lesson learn't. Hopefully less episodes in the future. Or, at least, better management! :imbar

Despite the above, we're finally enjoying beautiful spring weather! Wish I could show you how beautiful the countryside looks right now. How magical the birdsong is. How pretty the flowers and blossoms are. Ah! Nature, you can't beat it!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Cheers from "Down Under!" :flowersfo

Hi Grace, nice to see you. I'm glad you're feeling better. Dh has developed asthma over the last 10 yr. His is pretty controlled but he does use three inhalers a day. I know you'll be keeping yours under control. We think he developed his d/t living in a smoggy area. We love the winters here, it's just the summers that are so hot and then the smog rolls in from LA and . . . This year we didn't have as many "smog alert" days. I guess in the 50's and 60's LA was REALLY bad. Then public awareness of the problem increased, as did mandatory emission-reduction laws, etc etc. But LA still has a huge smog problem, what with only buses for mass transit (no great subway system like NY, Paris or London). We in the Inland Empire (about 60 miles east of LA) don't have a subway system either . . and as population skyrockets, traffic also booms, and the emissions keep on comin' . . .

Now HOW did I get onto THAT tangent???? <scratches head>

Steph, hope your next on-call IS as uneventful as you wish! We haven't seen Madagascar yet, but my friends who have seen it (adults!! ) said it was VERY funny. Guess I'll have to pick it up at the video store or at WalMart. I hear the penguins are great!

Sue, nice to talk w/you tonight in Chat!

To all who post after me, have a safe day, and I hope something surprisingly good happens to you today.

    Hi Dianah,
Thanks, I am "turning the corner" now. Thankfully. I empathise with your DH. It's a dreadful thing is asthma.
Reading your post has alerted me to the potential for me to have problems when I visit next year. Am intending to spend some of the visit in LA. I'll have to take that into account. Thanks for sharing this information, I appreciated reading it and being enlightened about something I hadn't considered.
And, kudo's to you for being a support to your DH, I was only discussing my own situation with my DH today and expressed my appreciation and gratitude to him for his understanding and support. As I said to him, we're both living with asthma! I might be the one afflicted, but he's also affected. The support means such a lot.
    Cheers.....

    Hi Steph,
I'm 'dying' to see Madagascar. Intending to rent the DVD soon. I've heard excellent reviews on it.
Hope work runs smooth for you. Birth and babies.... unpredictable!
Hope you enjoyed your glass of wine!
    Cheers......

    Goodmorning everyone,

I am totally bummed this morning.

had a disagreement with dh last night and I couldn't even sleep. He said somethings that really hurt my feelings. I guess I am just a crying fool when it comes to things like these.

I wish everyone a wonderful day.

I think I will go back to bed and maybe try to rest.
