I have to admit, when I got up this morning I was not looking forward to going to work at all. Tons of things to do at home, falling behind in housework, blah, blah, blah.
The thought kept nagging at me all morning while things were really slow in the ER. Then, I met 87 year old Meredith.
Meredith was having some vaginal pain. And being from a different background and generation, she just couldn't bring herself to say the "V" word. So, she proceeded to show me some photo copies she had made from an anatomy book at the local library and just point to the parts that hurt. For the first hour or two I found this very endearing and brought back to mind the fact that not everyone is comfortable with medicine and its terminology.
Then, hours after she left, I finally found it incredibly funny as well. It was nice to have a patient turn my mood around in a positive direction. And thanks to Meredith I forgot all about my laundry.
Just thought it was funny. I don't get photocopies from patients everyday.
