Although I try not to be sexist, I've never met a male 'maid'. Although the thought of one in those little uniforms is intriguing....
Actually, I thought men who cleaned were just called janitors, or whatever the pc term is now. Good catch.

These responses are awesome. I was just at a get together with a bunch of female friends, and I was the ONLY one who said they would use a maid -- without pre-cleaning. No wonder I spend so much time here. You peoples think like me.

Hey ! I gave up SMOKING so I could afford a house cleaner once a week. I tell all my female patients who are smokers that too. You have no idea how much motivation to quit that gives them!

I have maid service every other week. (Wish it were free!) I'm usually here when they arrive, but they let themselves out. I don't feel the need to pre-clean, but have found that having the service motivates me to keep things under better control overall.

I like yard work, hate housework!
