For what do you give thanks?

  1. In the past few weeks, since I have begun to feel better, I am seeing the world in a whole new way. When we're going to work, I find myself looking at the clouds, the beautiful trees, and they all seem so new to me. I guess these are the things we take for granted, never really stopping to look at their beauty. The flowers that grow wild, crops swaying in the fields, the little critters scampering about. I am so filled with happiness and thankfulness right now, I feel as though my senses are on overload!! I smell the air and am amazed at the freshness, unless we go past the pig farm! EEEEKKKKK! First and formost, I am thankful for my Lord and Savior. I see evidence of His love in all that surrounds me as I look at each masterpiece he has created for our pleasure. For so long, I stopped looking at the wonderful family I have, how their existance blesses my every day. Even my residents that reach out to me with their love and friendship. I am thankful for friends, and those of you on here that I read your posts with such interest, taking in your thoughts and concerns. I consider many of you friends, because a friend to me is anyone that reaches out to you and whose goal is to bring positive light to your day, they lift you up and hold you there till you can stand alone. When I first started my medication and counceling for depression, my goal was to find at least 5 things every day that I was happy about or thankful for. At first it was hard but each day it got easier and easier until now I just cannot limit it to only 5. So when you have a day that you are feeling down, try making a "thankful list". It is so easy to start....I'm thankful I was able to comfort Mrs. Smith when she became frightened and fell asleep as I sang to her, I'm thankful for puppy kisses......When we stop and really think about all we truly have to be thankful for, even though we may have pain and heartbreak in our lives, it becomes easier to deal with somehow. I still feel the pain of a recent loss of one that was very close to me, like a daughter but with every day I am realizing the joy we did share and depending on the promises of my Lord that I will one day hold her in my arms again. In our lives we must balance the bad and the good. Bad things happen to good people, the results often times of sin and many times innocent people get sucked into anothers choice, suck as a drunken driver that walks away from an accident that kills a beautiful child. Why does that child have to die? Because someone made their choice and an innocent paid the ultimate price. But the family of that child has to find thankfulness, so they remember the happy times and look forward to a promise. I hope I haven't bored you, I didn't mean to. I just felt the need to share what is in my heart and it's easier to do when someone isn't looking at you, judging your ever word. I know many of you will not agree with me in what I have said, but that's the beauty of living where we can not agree but still care and respect each other. To close I will say, in all that I am thankful for, you are there.

I am thankful for the little girl sitting on my lap smiling with me...

I am thankful for being God's child...

I am thankful for parents and family who love me unconditionally...

I am thankful for the ability to sit here and communicate with people I don't see or know, who feel a connection through this forum...

There is so much to be thankful for, but these are the things I think of while sitting here with cramps and a headache.... :angel2:

Ditto to all the above...PLUS...I am most thankful each time I get to inhale, exhale, and inhale again...and the breaths just keep on coming. Thank You, God, for my life. :kiss

Duckie that was totally beautiful..... I agree with everything said here. I'm a child of God, and I'm grateful that he accepts me as I am, but won't leave me the same as I was before HIM . I thank HIM for my life, and my health. I'm thankful for my children...even my wayward son.... I'm thankful that he allowed me to find a way to care for others, and take care of myself too.

I'm thankful that He has brought me out of a bad situation, and made it so... that what others meant for evil... turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me.

I'm thankful that I have a daughter the doctors didn't think would make it, but who is a true :angel2:...and I never cease to be amazed by her....

I am thankful for this day (which usually follows Dear Lord...)
I am thankful for my husband, family and friends
I am thankful for the roof over my head, food on my table, clothes to wear, and a car to drive
I am thankful for my two cats and the joy they bring to my life (even when they're sleeping like the are now)
I am thankful my husband still has his job thru several lay offs at his company

I could go on and on...I'm thankful for so many things. I guess since I quit my job last October, I've learned several things. While I'm not able to get my nails done, or my hair done as often as I used to...or go out to eat as much as we used to. I am very thankful we can support ourselves and provide the necessities that we need.
