For those who watched Fahrenheit 9/11

  1. I just watched the movie today, it has some key points that really questions me. I see many threads here at allnurses.com regarding the movie. Because of the accuracy on the movie I won't get into too much detailed information, just the one that is common sensible understandably true. The thing that really touched me on the movie was that lady who lost her son. Yet some many untold stories just like hers. If you watched the movie let me ask you a question; Do you think that it was justifiable for Bush who ordered soldier's into "harms way" in Iraq? Since you watched the movie what is your opinion? and did that movie changed your thought on voting for Bush? (I hate anything to deal with political issues because it gets dirty, but somehow, I think that this movie has opened some peoples eyes' and changed their thoughts on Bush.)

I'm curious about this as well. Has anyone who watched this movie actually changed their opinion of the president? Has it changed your vote? I haven't watched the movie, but have talked with several people who have, and from my personal observations, this movie has done nothing to change anyone's vote, Those who walked into the movie not liking the president, left with that opinion in tact. Those who walked into the movie supporting the president, left supporting the president.

    Anyone have another experience?

I think it's the swing voters that were targetted with this movie, not those of us who already know who we'll vote for. I haven't seen the movie, but I am pretty sure Steph and I will still be cancelling eachother's vote out in November

I won't see it for a while yet which is a pity I like a good comedy.

Which is about what this is for me - comedy. Yes there are truths in it but the best comedy does have truth in it.

The secret is to laugh at the satire, shrug off the untruths and examine what makes you uncomfortable - for there is the truth which must be addressed.

I haven't seen the movie (and probably won't) but I tend to think the majority of people won't change their minds and that it was probably targeted for swing voters.

The scary thing to me, although this is our reality nowadays, that people would base something so damn important as a vote on a MOVIE that clearly has its own agenda. But, seeing as 1 out of 3 viewers reporte getting their medical information from ER (Kaiser Family Foundation study - www.nursingadvocacy.org) then this doesn't shock me at all. But it still scares me.

I don't think this movie is any less true than the candidates official campaign adds.

Probably more true. I've heard lots of people (I mean in general, not necessarily on this board) complain about all the "lies" MM is telling in the movie, but most all of the info in the movie was information I've heard reported in other places, too. "Drawing a different conclusion from the facts" or "having a different point of view" is not the same as a lie ...

I did see that a local theater was registering new voters in the lobby.

The "neighborhood dgaracter' said, "I seen it. You know what is on the screen was really filmed. You don't know what Mikes voice is telling you it means is true. If you can't figure out opinion from fact you got no business callin' youself a grown man."
He said this to me! I am NOT a man. He is and that is HIS opinion! The old barbershop guy all talked loudly at the same time, hurling insults at each other. Then my dog put a present on the sidewalk, I cleaned it up (zip lock bag) and went on.

    I haven't seen it yet.

I don't plan to see it at the theater, maybe some day if it comes to my Dish I might watch it if I have time.

I have no intention of paying to see it. I can't justify making this man any more rich than he already is. Like I said in another post, he doesn't lie per se, he just buries any truth that negates the story he wants to fabricate. But he doesn't lie. I'll wait for a boot leg.
