Five A Day?

  1. Was wondering how many fruits and vegetables a day you guys eat. I have no trouble getting more than five, but have been dismayed by the number of vegetarians who can't get even that many. How about you guys. Be honest.

Since my wife had her gastric bypass, my diet. . . when I'm with here. . . has been text-book perfect! Because Amy is extraordinarly prudent in making sure she gets appropriate nutritional intake (protein, fiber, fruits, vegies, approp. amount of carbs, etc.) we eat really well-balanced meals.

I just eat a lot of it!

And when I'm at work, I eat lots of junk food! Lots!!!

Highly variable from day to day, but usually at least 5, I think.

    And ketchup counts, right?
  10. by Tweety
Actually, I think ketchup does count because it has a concentrated amount of cooked tomatoes. But the salt and sugar content aren't too good though and should be taken in consideration in your overall sugar and salt intake for the day.

I am a vegetarian and have no troubles eating between 5-10 per day, sometimes more. I have a few vegetarian friends who struggle to eat 5 a day... after a bit of investigating i found out they mostly eat 2 minute noodles, PASTA, bread, sushi, and high carb based products. Personally I love my fruit and vege's.

Am much better about this that I used to be. Try to keep things available around the house to avoid temptations of other things (thank goodness Easter is over - he keeps bringing those sacks of robin's eggs home .)
