First Night as Charge Nurse!

  1. Just got promoted to charge nurse in our 18-bed ICU. Tonight's my first night (no orientation!). Say a prayer for me and wish me luck! I'm nervous and excited and a bit scared too. And, ugh, I'll be working more nights (I've got EIGHT on this six-week schedule; I was working TWO in six-weeks).

OK, ready or not, here I go.........

You'll be fabulous. Remember you're not there to make friends or gain approval.

    Good Luck!

It was a quiet night, thank God! The night went well; two admissions very early on when I still had a unit secretary. Good night crew to work with. No staffing issues. Whew! Have to go back for Thursday and Friday night too.

    Thanks for your positive thoughts!
