Favorite childhood Games!!

  1. I was just thinking back to when i was a child. We played lots of outdoor games, some of my favorites were 'Freeze tag', 'red light',
and of course 'hide and go seek' and 'that's my car!'

Ditto! I remember hating it when it rained because we had to redraw all of our chalk hopscotch markings on the sidewalk!

Remember when life was that simple?

American eagle....kinda like pick up and smear. You start off with 1 kid at 1 end of the field and everyone else (3,5,7, any # of kids)) at the other. You all run at each other...the 1 kid tries to tackle someone. If he/she succeeds...the tackled person goes over to the other side. You continue playing until there's only 1 person left on the other side...that poor kid gets tackled by everyone. I dunno...I remember it as a hellava lot of fun.

Flashlight tag, 4 square, chinese jump rope (actually bamboo sticks), playing war in homemade fox holes and mud balls.

    You're probably thinking by now that I'm a boy....but I am a girl! I truly am!

To Paprikat-Oh my God- I have not thought about four-square in years!!
    We spent HOURS playing that.

Also, Kick the can was a great summertime favorite!

    Ah, to be young again.

    What is "that's my car"?

My daughter loves four-square. I liked Red Light, Green Light and freeze tag too. We made up a lot of our own games in grade school. We played "horses" a lot...pretended to be wild horses and then one or two girls would be the trainers or cowboys and try to lasso us (with jump ropes).

I remember playing Mississippi (m-i-ss-i-ss-i-pp-i!), and this game where you threw this ball against the brick wall and you had to make sure it went under your legs when it bounced back (Jump Ball I think it was). Used to play pretend a lot. Did anyone ever play statues?

I was the four square champion!
probably due to my scrawny wiry frame as a child
    loved four square!
    hopscotch too !
    redlight/greenlight
red rover - god we killed our arms runnin into eachother on that one!
hide and seek - again my wiry scrawny figure made it easy to hide in places other kids didnt fit!
my short legs meant that I was the seeker alot too tho
awwww I wanna be a kid again.......
    those were happy times
