Extend Patriot Act?

  1. Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act....
..."Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artma...ter_7779.shtml

Who needs a Constitution? It's just a piece of paper and I wasn't using my rights anyway.

Yes, I think it's appropriate for the time being. And it IS a temporary measure.

As long as it has a sunset provision and we have to keep having this debate every few yrs, when the time comes that it is outdated, it will not be re-authorized. . .

    And that will be that.

So the lesson here is that it's ok to do something unconstitutional so long as it has 'sunset provisions' ?

Which leads to a whole bunch of questions:
    1. If it's not "as bad as those damned whiny liberals make it out to be", why does it need sunset provisions?
    2. Take Q.1 and add - Will we not need them after the sunset provisions expiration date?

    *speaks out aloud*
But hey! If you ain't done nothin' wrong, what the hell do you care?

I wonder how many American terrorists we have caught using the Patriot Act? I don't understand, we are attacked by foreigners so they want to take American rights away to make us safer? Am I the only one that doesn't jive with?
