Ex-husband's junk is still here!!!

  1. :angryfire I have been divorced for about 2 years. I keep telling him to pick up his stuff and he never does! He said these ugly old rugs of his are "antiques" and are worth a lot of money! I think 2 years is long enough to wait!!! :angryfire What do you think?

Put in writing that he has ______ days to pick these items up or you're getting rid of them, and when he doesn't come get them, then pitch them.

You've held on to those things longer than i would have.

hey blackcat99, did you ever hear the adage...if you don't use anything in two years, you should throw it out...this might suffice.

i would contact your ex and let him know that on a particular day he can find these "antiques" waiting for either him to pick up or it'll be trashed. two years is plenty of time!..two minutes is actually plenty of time.

Are they usuable? You could donate them to goodwill or better yet, some animal shelters use old rugs and carpet remnants to line the kennel bottoms. Two years and he still hasn't picked his ugly old rugs up yet? I'd let all the poor strays in my community pee & poop on some fine antique rugs...
and if you can get a receipt from either(I know the shelter I was affiliated with would do this; mostly for taxes but it would work the same!) acknowledging the donation at it's estimated value of (howevermuch, $10?) then if he ever tried to harrass you to saying you threw away his very expensive you'd have your little receipt stating otherwise.

Donate them or if they are such valuable antiques sell them! I think 2 years is long enough to wait!

I agree with this. However, send the letter by registered mail with a return receipt request. This will prove that you did send him the letter. At the same time, send yourself a copy of this letter, but leave it sealed in the envelope when you get it. That is extra proof.

Get them appraised. Actually lots of ugly old things ARE antiques and valuable. Then put them on e-bay. After 2 years you don't have to notify anyone. They are yours to do with as you please.

I agree with everyone who's said that two years is WAAAAAY long enough for your ex to have picked up his stuff. He's just using your house for free storage. I'd either start charging him rent, or pack up everything and tell him it's out on the front lawn.......if he doesn't come pick it up in three days, donate what hasn't been stolen to Goodwill, or have a yard sale.

    Good one, Z's!

I'm probably too nice. I'd dump them both off on HIS front lawn, not 2 years, but 2 days after he was out. But that's just me. It'd drive me nuts to have to look at his stuff, sitting there and practically screaming that he still had a reason to come back and bug me.

Yeah, but gas is expensive, plus the wear and tear on the vehicle lol.
