Every Time I Look in the Mirror I Freak

  1. I went to the hairdresser yesterday and was feeling very restless. Not a great time to ask for a change, but...

My hair was a kind of medium golden blonde, a little past shoulder length. I'm not blonde, either, I have dark, well salt and pepper hair. the blonde was pretty but it really did make me look washed out and I wanted something a bit spicier. Well I got it.

It's now a bright, light red with blonde highlights and short layers. It's fun, but every time I pass a mirror, I'm startled. My family likes it. My husband is used to me doing drastic things with my hair, but I must say this is the most dramatic thing I've done.

I can't help but wonder what people at work are going to say. Now of course, I need new make-up and clothes colors.

I do this more often then I would like to admit...I bet your hair looks great.
I used to be a cosmetologist, the hardest thing was when someone would come in and want something totally drastic...well, we complied but they didn't prepare there brain for the change...when they looked in the mirror, there brain was expecting to see the old look, well, here is the new look and they freak...not a pleasant thing to go through...they eventually like it, but it does take awhile.
Remember red fades fast...so if it seems bright now, it will tame soon!

How fun...nice way to spice things up and make yourself feel great...especially when you get all those compliments on it. Enjoy the new "do" and relish in all the compliments!

Actually, I'm having a lot of fun with it right now. Can't wait until the malls open.

I'm always looking to do something different--especially with my cut. I have very thick wavy hair..a wee bit past chin length with blonde highlights. I have such a hard time trying to control the thickness of it--generally it grows out instead of down! My stylist just styled it into a shag--I wore a shag in HS..in fact my '71 graduation picture I was wearing one--but this one is much more updated. Looks very much like Meg Ryan's cut with all these great choppy layers and doesn't take much at all to style it. My stylist is a God-send. Thank you ANGELA!!!

:chuckle Reminds me of a time when my youngest daughter wanted to make her hair look better before going to summer camp. She dyed her hair with I think it was an auburn color? But after it dried, she had orange hair.

I just chopped my hair off, too. I now have a chin length, flipped up bob. I ve always had past shoulder length hair. I think sometimes you wake up and need a change. I like it alot, I keep forgetting that when I wash my hair now, I only need half as much shampoo and conditioner....lol

I'm gonna beg my hairdresser to take me in tomorrow... I despirately need a cut and color... I want some longish layers, and want to be a 'flame' again... but for it to stick to me, its a 2 step process.. maybe I'll talk him into hilights.. but its so hard for me to maintain...

I'm just about ready to shave my head and buy a wig... but rich said no... (apparantly he loves my hair as much as he loves me, myself...he plays with it more than I do!)

That part about your hubby is cute, Barb. Why not keep it? :chuckle
