endodontic file in your Root?

  1. I am wondering how common my recent misfortune is?

Two weeks ago, my dentist attempted a root canal. Halfway into the procedure a file broke off in my root.

The dentist was unable to retrieve it so now I have to see an endodontist to have it removed.

To make matters worse I am somewhat of a dental phob...

Has anyone else experienced this and if so ..tell me about the retrieval process?

I am so GLADD ..It is the weekend, Hopefully I can jump on and off here..I love this "Off Topic" and all the chats here

    Thanks a bunch!!* Darla**

Yikes! No experience with this kind of thing, but wishing you luck and a better dentist this time! Is the first dentist comping you for the procedure? Seems only fair, to me!

Gosh Darla that sounds terrible. I have never heard of that happening, does it hurt now?

Wishing the best of luck at the endodontist.

yes Misti it does hurt...more of a pressure sensation..
    Thanks for your concern

I see the new Endo for eval on Monday..I saw a local Endo in our town this week and he was very pessimistic..,could not do any work on it for five weeks..No way do I want to wait five weeks!
So I am off to Nashville
Nashville is a one hour drive but this endo is in a six person practice and once he evaluates it he said he should be able to help me within the week

Thanks for the good wishes anda the prayers* Darla**

Wow, kinda know how you feel. An inexperienced dentist broke a tooth he was trying to extract and couldn't finish the procedure. I was told that I had to go to an oral surgeon. Three days later was the appt. They didn't even offer me anything for the pain! Eventually I wised up with this practice and took my business elsewhere. And guess what? When the oral surgeon finally finished the job (which he did with obvious expertise) he actually called me at home that night at about 8:30 PM to make sure I was doing ok. Talk about shocked! I only wish I could go to this person for all my care, medical and dental! To have met a professional who cares that much about his patients! Like I said, shocked is what I was!

YIKES I hate dental pain! would rather have 10 shots in each buttcheek that have a root canal............I don't know if it is common for the file to break but you have my total sympathy....
