Growing up their were two big holiday times: 4th July--cause celebrated my parents birthdays (1st and 5th) along with local parade contest that as kids were were ALWAYS in--costumed as some character or on a float.
Second was Christmas time: inside and outside decorations. I inherited my in laws Shiny bright glass ornaments, added some of our own in late 70's then inherited 1/2 of parents when they retired.
My MIL started Waterford ornament collection in 1985---missed the 1st four years. After her death in 1989, my husband kept collection going. Well this spring, I discovered Ebay had early years listed and was able to purchase missing ones for $$$. Happy at last.
Well that evil Ebay :angryfire sent me an email with "Top 10 attractions". Lo and behold my mouse accidentally rolled on that "Christmas ornament" link.
I found HUNDREDS of Shiny bright ornaments from 1950's --- identical to ones my brothers got. AND 1950 wax candle Cowboy, angels and Santa's!:hatparty: :hatparty: :hatparty:
So far I've only bid on one candle collection. Watching a few Shinys that have indents......
Just showed my DH these beauties!!! He thinks I'm certifiably nuts to want more Christmas stuff. All are under $10.00! Less than 1/2 the cost of an EAGLES football teeshirt I say, and no where near the cost of his 4 EAGLES FB jackets! Just know those sons will want to take ornaments when they start their own families in the coming years soooooo....
If I don't answer any PM's or email in the coming days, you'll know where to find me.

I am a biggy on Christmas stuff too.
I am starting to slowly collect stuff taking advantage of the after holiday sales. When I have children I would love to do what your parents did Karen. So that when I retire I can let them have it and continue what I started.
Best of luck to you on your auction
