Ear Mites?

  1. Why is it that kiddies aand critters always seem to get these annoying problems only on weekends??? My old man cat is shaking his head, scratching at an ear, and holding his ears funny...Cleaned ear with qtip...gently..outside part only, yukky brown/black gunk.......All this sure sounds like ear mites to me....of course no meds in house....last bout with them was like 5 years ago...so...??/ Anyone with any "home" remedys ?? thought of maybe olive oil...peroxide....just plain water???/ No vet until Tuesday...he only comes here twice a week....Poor Jerry...he`s acting kinda miserable...

Have a friend who works as a vet assist... she swears by mineral oil.. Take q-tip and swab inside of your critter's ear...she says will drown most of them

Just what I was about to suggest. Use mineral oil on a q-tip to clean the ear as best you can. The drop a few drops of oil into the ear and massage it real good. Then clean it again. That'll knock the problem down for a bit but won't cure.
