Ear ache???

  1. Hey everybody,

I'm writing to see if any of you have had experiences with ear aches.

Is it possible to have an ear ache but not really feel sick or ill from it?

My ear feels a little funny, doesn't hurt, don't have a fever, don't feel sick or run-down, and haven't had a cold or anything all winter. Knock on Wood!

The last time I had one I was about 10 and was very sick so as an adult I don't know what to expect.

My neck also feels numb. It doesn't hurt and isn't scratchy but feels a little swollen. In December my OB/GYn had my Th3/4 levels tested because he said my Thyroid felt a little enlarged but I just called the office to double check and be sure and they said everything is fine, so it's not that.

If you have any home remedies let me know. I hate to go to the doctor to get Anti-biotics, especially when I don't feel that bad.

I've been feeling these for about two weeks.

    Thanks for your input.

I suffered with earaches as a child. I don't mess around with my ears, if it isn't any better tomorrow go to your Dr. before the weekend. It may be as simple as wax in your ear. I had a horrible earache last year and it wasn't my ear at all, I needed a root canal and the swelling put pressure on my nerve causing horrible ear pain. I find that a warm pack helps and ibuprofen if you can take it. Hope you feel better soon.

I would just get it checked out. I don't mess around with ears either, I had earaches chronically as a kid. Who am I kidding, I still get them! Son gets them too.

If it is an actual ear infection, a home remedy isn't going to work, it will require antibiotics to rid the infection. Until that happens, your eardrum will swell, until there is no longer any room for it to expand.

Usually mine are accompanied my signs of illness, but I can think of a couple of times they weren't. They would just start as a slightly "plugged" feeling, and progressed to full blown tear inducing earaches.

    See a doc!

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your advice. I made an appt. with my doc. for this Saturday.

Given my luck recently it wouldn't surprise that on Saturday night I come down with some huge ear ache or infection of some sort and have to spend the weekend in misery because I can't get into to see the doc. til the week.

Plus, I have my first A&PII exam on Monday night and ya gots ta be healthy for that!

    Thanks guys!
