Dogs 2! me 0! round 3 yet to come...

  1. Well I swerved to avoid hitting a dog that came racing out in front of my car. My poor Honda hit a small tree and crumpled like plastic. Had to race home and get my other car to get to school for a mandatory class activity. Boy am I sore, and looking at my car I can already tell that it is going to cost a pretty penny (hubby doesn't want to go through the insurance, but I say lets get a quick quote first before deciding). I have had it with dogs! I hate to say it but the next one that runs out in front of my car may have to take the consequences. Oh yeah and my purse was stolen last week. I am having a great month.

You should never try to swerve to avoid a collision unless you are going very slow and can control the car to a stop.

Driving here in rural CA we regularly have squirrels and skunks and deer in the road . . . . our driver's ed teaches our kids NOT to swerve.

So sorry about your car and owies.

bad luck comes in clusters but a quick prayer that yours is over with and that you have smooth sailing
hubby may be right if the deductable is close to the estimate you may save in insurance hikes

I swerve, too. And since there are loys of strays in my neighborhood, I swerve often. So far, I've been able to do it safely.

I started crying hysterically one morning because I ran over a tennis shoe! Of course I didn't know it was a shoe until I came back around to face what I had done. :trout:

I'm with Steph, I was taught not to swerve unless able to do so safely. I've hit a couple of animals because it was either that or hit something worse.

Glad you're okay, though......better the car than you!

You might want to check with a lawyer, though. He might think informing your insurance company is best for you. My Dd didn't and now the thought is that her fibromyalgia was started by that accident. My nephew did report his accident and now has a pending $300,000 settlement that should be available soon that will buy his house outright so that if he can't work in the future, he'll be that much more secure. He still has limitations as far as work is concerned. I'm only suggesting you think things out so you keep options open if you have accident related problems later.

Glad we don't have to play "taps" (dance shoes). I know. Gotta stop. Yep! Terrible. So sorry.
