I shop at Wal-Mart because it is within my budget and that is the ONLY REASON. I have to have a certain amount of food and hygeine products on a limited budget and they have the most competitive prices.

    BUT ....

I *HATE* Wal-Mart. Most of their products are imported instead of made in the US to keep those rollback prices, which usually leads to an abundance of underquality overpriced goods.

Wal-Mart snuffs good businesses out like a light (rubbermaid?) because they can't compete

They pay their workers a pitiful amount with sorry benefits. (I worked there for a day...basically after orientation I knew that it wasn't worth it)

Our Wal-Mart is overshopped and understaffed meaning 30min to an hour wait time to check out

When I have extra money I go somewhere else. It's not the same Wal-Mart it used to be.

Ours NEVER looks like the commercials (clean, neat, wide and uncluttered aisles, well-stocked, etc). I'm with asoldierswife06: I do shop there but I don't like to.

I'm trying to switch to Target, even though the Wal-Mart is closer.

I live in a relatively small town...nothing like new york or anything. But we are right across the stateline from TN which has a higher sales tax...so we have a large Wal-Mart shopping population. The solution was to build two additional SuperWal-Marts within 15 miles of the existing one, plus a Wal-Mart Neighborhood grocery within about 2 miles in the other direction. The result.........no more ma and pop grocery stores, no small cd shops, beauty shops have closed...they are killing small local business

[font=courier new]i think that walmart is the epitomy of corperate evil. no company should that large and powerful. it undermines many of america's manufacturing sources by using cheap labor overseas. this is really a huge problem...just recently, it was all over the news how america's textile industry is suffering with walmart's use of chinese companies.
[font=courier new][color=#2f4f4f]i go to the grocery store for groceries, the dollar store for cleaning items, and target for personal/grooming things. i very rarely go to walmart. i would rather spend extra time/money going to the other places. and really, walmart is not that much cheaper.
[font=courier new][color=#2f4f4f]on a more "tacky" note....this is really ugly of me to say....but the patrons....as a general rule...not the users of this board of course...but most....hmmm..well.....you know what i mean...just look around when you go there.

[font=courier new][color=#2f4f4f]eta- a few years back, a tornado hit a walmart and i made the remark..."well, mother nature has finally figured out to just bypass the trailer parks"...=)

I hate going to Wal-mart. I'd rather pay high grocery store prices, than go to Wal-mart.

Our Wal-marts are terribly crowded, the bathrooms are usually dirty b/c they stay so busy, and the lines are way too long.

My sister worked there for a while about 10 years ago, and I wouldn't want to work there!

They want to act like they are good for America, but I agree, they are hurting small businesses.

On another note, I HATE SELF-CHECK OUT LANES!!!! If I wanted to bag my own, I'd go to Sack-n-Save, or another bag-your-own-and-save store! If I go to any store, I do not use the self-check outs. OH.....It really peeves me when those are the only lanes open!

THEY ARE TAKING THE PLACE OF JOBS, AND MAKING THE UNEMPLOYMENT RISE!

    BOYCOTT SELF CHECK OUT LANES!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm off my high-horse now. :chuckle

    bawahhahahahahahahahhaha

*i* got stuck in a wal-mart during a tornado hahahahhahahha

actually i was on my way to drill for the national guard at the butt crack of dawn (0430) and it was the only place open that was close enough to take shelter in)...and i learned that tornadoes are the reason the clothing aisles are located in the center of the store!

:roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll

unfortunately, the majority of low income shoppers are forced to shop there for the low prices. it does make a difference believe me......i grew up on beans and cornbread. we were feeding a house of six and two dogs and bought must of our stuff in bulk.

Oh I hear ya....I'm not exactly rollin' in the dough myself. I have found that most of the time, the dollar stores are cheaper than Walmart. But I can see your point about the groceries.

hehehehe@ getting stuck in a tornado. I think I would stay in the grocery section so if I got buried under debris, at least I wouldn't starve.

OH...and something *else* about WallyWorld....what is UP with 2 freakin' registers open out of 50? Poor Walmart can't lose any money with all those extra cashiers, huh? AND the morons with a cartload in the 20 items or less line.... I think I grew a tumor when I was behind one of those people once.....ggrrrrrrr.

A lot of my ex-clients are now employees of Wally World... I hate going in there...The only thing that I buy there is diapers for my niece and her baby...usually the only thing that I can find that I get a deal on...

I go to Safeway or Albertsons for groceries and Bi-Mart for my cleaning supplies...I don't like Wal-marts clothing...

I remember when they first started opening in my area and they said that they would only build stores every 50 miles...HA HA.....everytown that we have in my state has at least one and distribution centers all over... I like the old mom and pop grocery stores but we don't even have one in our town....

I understand the need to be on a budget, but there is a big difference between something that is cheap and something that is a good value. If you buy something that was cheap but brakes down twice as fast as the item that was a few dollars more...we that's not a good value and you got riped off. I haven't shopped at Walmart in over 7 years. Mainly b/c I don't like they way they treat their employees and that they are a drain on our tax dollars. The day after Thanksgiving I shopped for the first time for that really cheap laptop. I still feel guilty about it.

I get my oil changed at Wal-Mart, because they are within walking distance of my office, they're reasonably priced and they don't claim I need a new air filter or something more expensive every time I go there. What they quote you is what you end up paying, and that's a good thing. I don't shop there much, though. Just can't stand being in the store, don't like the crowds, the smell, the millions and millions of screaming children or my never fail ability to pick the absolutely slowest checkout line in the free world on any given day I do happen to make a purchase.

Nope, I don't shop there anymore ..... and I haven't for quite a while. Mainly for all the reasons that have already been stated ..... it's always trashy when I go in there, never clean, always a mess, they treat their employees bad (therefore a lot of times they are rude .... not friendly). I just hate everything about it.

I can find better deals by looking for good sales, without shopping at Walmart. I definitely don't miss it. I'd rather be getting a root canal than go into a Walmart on a Saturday afternoon.
