Do you think this is a bookstore no-no?

  1. Local boostore has a coffeeshop on the inside. This bookstore does not have a "no food or drink" sign posted anywhere, nor is there a sign that says anything against bringing your own in.

Well, the chai latte i like is close to $5 at the shop. If i make my own (not as good but oh well), it's not even 75 cents to make.

So do you think it'd be OK to take a travel mug of my own to go there and read?

I would say don't do it.

See if they sale their own travel mugs then you can sneak your own in their mugs. I would do it but I'm cheap; I think my coffee tastes better too!

    Sure why not.

I'm contemplating doing it because the cost of theirs adds up.

Sure - our local B&N has a coffee shop in the back but I see people bringing in drinks from other places, even McDonalds.

    I can get a grande for $3.75 at B&N - $5 is too much.

[font="lucida sans unicode"]marie, i'm surprised that you're even asking. from your multiple posts i've read over the last 3 years, i wouldn't put it past you to do it. i, on the other hand would not be as ballsy.

this reminds me of an episode of seinfeld (everything can be traced to an episode of seinfeld). george takes a book into the bookstore bathroom, and it gets 'flagged' for being in the bathroom. i thought that's where you were going with this thread.

I would say out of repect to the book store, I would at least buy a travel mug to sneak my coffee in...a compromise.

i agree. for a show that is about nothing, it has just about everything about something.

The thing I would worry about, if buying one of their travel mugs, is them thinking that you're stealing it when you leave. They don't watch you when you come in, so when you leave how do they know it's yours and not theirs? Having it filled with coffee or tea doesn't help because you could have bought that there, poured it in the travel mug, and then said it was yours. Know what I'm trying to say?

Absolutely! The B&N I go to, is in the mall. It is not uncommon to see ppl sit and read with their own food court beverage.
