Do you have a habit that makes no sense???

  1. Ok, I'll go first...

I love to buy makeup yet I never wear it. Makeup makes my eyes burn and makes me sneeze, even the hypoallergenic line. Strange, I love to buy makeup. I have to tell myself...put it back dummy, put it back.

I too buy lots of make up ($200 spent at sephora last week) and I don't wear it to work 3 days a week and I'm taking online classes. I wear jeans and a tshirt for grocery shopping and I might put on concealer, mascara and lip gloss. I have skin though that doesn't need much makeup. I have no zits (maybe 1 a year), skin color is smooth and even. So when I do put on all the war paint I feel like a hooker.

Shoes. I love heels. They make my legs look awesome. I feel sexy in them. Yet, do you wear heels for your 12 hour shifts? Me either. Sadly, I'll put them on when I'm at home in sweats and walk around in them. I just bought a great pair of stilleto boots with about a 4 inch heel that come up to mid calf and a pair of oh so comfortable ballet flats. See, I do buy flats on occassion. But man, those heels. I bought a pair of Manalo Blahniks last year with a huge heel in basic black and let me tell you, I spent all day in them at my grandpa's funeral standing in the receiving line and my feet didn't hurt a bit. It was money well spent. I told my mom I only paid $75 for them because she gets really upset when I purchase expensive shoes and purses because "there's starving kids in Africa."

Clothes. BUT when I go out which is mostly to the store I wear jeans and tshirts. I have 4 little black dresses (with shoes and purses to match), tons of dressy shirts and pants that I won't wear until I'm in the legal field in about oh, 2 years.

I also have what one dr described at work as OCD. I don't think I do but he watched me for 20 minutes put everything in a straight line, like staplers and tape, paper, etc. When someone picked up the stapler and didn't put it back straight I would immediately put it back in line.

I do this at home too. My lotions on my dresser are lined up smallest to biggest in a straight line. Sometimes I feel like Monk. I'm all about straight edges. Sheets have to be straight, when folding clothes every fold must be straight. And I hate after someone reads the newspaper and it's no longer quite in the fold. Sometimes I iron it before I read it.

I leave cups all over the house. No other eating-ware, just cups.

I am an office supply freak. I could buy a new pack of pens every day just because I like the way they write.

I suck my two front teeth. The more I do it, the harder it is to stop.

I've sucked my two front teeth so excessively that I have developed a little gap between the two upper front incisors. Yes, sucking my teeth is my primary bad habit, but I do it quietly so as to not annoy anyone but myself.

Also, I buy cleaning products that I really do not need, because I have a fascination with them. I like how they smell, and I especially like how they look under my sink. However, my house is rather untidy, so perhaps I should actually put these cleaning supplies to use.

You would get along so well with my dh. He has soooo many cleaning products yet he never seems to get around to using them. By the time he wants to use one of them he forgets where it is and then goes and buys more. I have a 4 shelf unit in the garage with his stuff on it also all of the space under the sink and one more cabinet next to under the sink. Drives me absolutely crazy!

Practically everything I do makes no sense. To narrow that down a bit, my three most illogical habits would be:

I keep my pantry, fridge and freezer full at all times. This is the result of having grown up with a mother who "hated to spend money on groceries". We didn't go hungry, but there was no convincing her that she wasn't saving money by going to the store every day and buying only those ingredients needed for that evening's meal. To this day, her fridge contains primarily mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise. Whilst visiting her this past summer, I was stunned to discover a box of cereal and bag of English muffins in her cabinets. Even more shocking, there was a container of orange juice in the fridge. Now, I overstock so much that I frequently have to throw perishables away, because they perish before I can use them.

I procrastinate. Badly. I'm always in crisis mode. For some odd reason, I do my best work that way. Always have done.

I waste hours of time a day on the Internet. I can't even account for a fraction of it at the end of the day.

I'm another person who "burns the midnight oil" on the internet, wasting hours on aimless online browsing that could be used for accomplishing other tasks.

    Me too. I feel y'all's pain. I'm a farter-around on the Internet.

Curling the laces on my joggers around my index finger and tucking them inside the shoe.

And that's just ONE of the weird and odd things I do! lol

I deal with stress by imagining the worst thing that could happen as vividly as possible...which actually causes even more stress. And strangely enough when things turn out OK I'm a bit disappointed.

Not something I'd recommend to other people.
