Do you have a CD burner?

  1. And if you do, are they worth it? Thinking about getting my two teens a burner for Christmas. Any advice?

very much worth it espeially if you have a dsl, cable or t1 or t3 line to the net. let me know if you need to get some "free" software to burn as well as mp3's, govt's biggest mistake was shutting down napster, if you know what i mean

I bought my bfriend a cd burner for his bday 2 months ago, very worthwhile! It saves money on cd's etc. Blank cd's are cheap, less than a dollar each and "Morpheus" is still running, it is like napster, I have over 300 songs downloaded. Cd burners are also good to "back up" everything on your computer, in case it "crashes".

You only need one per house or computer

I searched with Google and found Morpheus - Music City. Is that the one? On the menu for options of CD dwonload groups Morpheus is said to be difficult to use with Windows. Do you use Windows (doesn't everyone)? Did I find the right site?

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH... How I love my burner...

I couldn't live without my iMesh, I'm downloading from it right now. But like someone else said, it's best if you have a higher connection. When we first got our computer we just had AOL, and it took 15 minutes to download one song. Now I can do 3-5 at a time in about 2 minutes with cable. I have dozens of "homemade" cd's laying all around my house. I've only bought one CD in the past year.

What a cool mom you'll be!

My kids are 16 and 17. Got them a burner last Christmas. I even installed it myself. It's been worth every cent. They use it all the time. I don't know what site they use but they down load music all the time.
Also nice to be able to save pictures and info on.
I think they are cheaper this year. I got an HP internal and installation into the tower was easy and I'm no computer wiz.

Between my boys and husband they burn a average of 1 cd per day from Morpheus...flawlessly...using Windows.
